I live in the border, years ago, I would buy everything in the USA. I would eat out over there, buy my groceries, and clothes. As custom agents began acting like assholes, I slowly stopped going, and eventually got to a to this point, it's September, and I've only been twice, even though I live about 5 blocks from the border. I decided I don't need to spend my money where I get such a crappy welcome. The only times I even went there was just to go to the airport to travel to Europe. Custom agents in Eruope welcome you, act politely, they don't treat you like a suspect for a crime. I've been to Israel, they are at war, and the customs agents are nice, even the custom agents from Egypt when I come from Israel are nice. I cancelled my timeshares in Orlando and at South Padre Island. I just don't need to spend my money where I'll be treated badly.

Why can't American custom agents learn from other countries?

I used to have most of my life savings over there, I used to simply cross the bridge, deposit, and come back. It came just a big deal just saying you were going to deposit money, before I knew it, I had all my money in Mexico. A lot of people I know stopped saving in the USA because the trouble just to cross the bridge for something as simple as depositing money was just not worth it.

YES right on I live by the border as I like to visit Mexico sometimes but since the time they almost tackled my husband to the groundbecause ( he was a supposed felon or terrorist ) and then in front of my kids .They had us there maybe for 20 minutes until they checked his record and cleared him.My daughter couldnt stop crying cuz she thought they were taking him away.A few yrs back also I was in my teens the lady didnt believe my son wasnt mine for the fact that I was to young to have a baby.Until I showed her his papers .And told her if she wanted to see my stretch marks to prove this.

If those courses would give them a decent personality, courtesy and manners then yes they should. Frankly i think they need a whole new breed of customs agents. They need to be trained right from the very beginning. How hard is it to be nice to people? I feel for you, I wish you didn't have to go through that. It's certainly not right or fair in anyway. I hate to say it but it's not just us customs agents, I have encountered the same rudeness in europe many times. I really hope things get better. It's a shame that it's come this for you! Best wishs to you and lets hope they shape up!!!

Why should everyone be nice to you? Are you like, royalty, or something? Frankly, if you've got that kind of money, why not work on making Mexico a better place to live by investing there etc? It's what Mexico needs, people like you committed to making their country a better place. Go for it!

Well if millions of people tried to sneak by you every single day and your boss ties your hands behind your back in attempting to stop them, then I bet you might have an attitude issue also.
