Try Baby oil, it is still a bit difficult but it is a whole lot easier than it would be normally.
There is also a method I have not tried wher you put peanutbutter in your hair (wash it out later).

I have come across this problem in the salon many times, first we use ice to make the gum hard, then we use mineral oil(baby oil), it should loosen up. If this doesn't work, we resort to using a product called goo be gone, it is used to remove adhesive, like the stuff price tags or stickers leave behind. Then we wash the area with a dish detergent like "dawn". Last but not least...scissors.

Try the ice first, freeze the gum and break it off. If that doesn't work try smearing it with butter or peanut butter, the grease helps it not stick. If none of that works, try a detaingler for your hair (spray or even conditioner). Last resort, find someone you trust with a pair of scissors.

peanut butter or like butter or you could cut it out...but peanut butter might work better!
using peanut butter: smear peanut butter in hair and work its way out then wash hair.
margarine: Place some margarine onto the hair and work it a little. This will disolve the gum and just wipe with a paper towel and wash
hair as usual.

I fell asleep with gum in my mouth once as a kid, my mom used peanut butter.
I have also heard of WD40, the stuff from the hardware store, but then the hair would need something heavy duty to get the greasy out.

Try using baby oil or canola oil. You need some type of oil based product to make the gum slide out. DO NOT CUT IT. If you get discouraged then go to your stylist.

Peanut butter! Either that or just cut that part of your hair off.

Baby oil. Anything with oil. That's to make your hair slippery so the gum will slide off.
Not engine oil, ayt?

Sounds like you got yourself a nice friend. NOT!
Use peanut butter to take it out.
