I didn't know that had been said. Who said that? I don't think so at all. There is thought in everything. I think someone said it because, with such an apotheosis of atheism going on right now, theists who constrict themselves too tightly in their beliefs might be afraid that some of those things some atheists say here (e.g. "Religion is the opiate of the masses" - Marx) or that belief is a crutch for the weakminded, that those things might be true.

Religion is brainwashing for the masses, so atheism surely is choosing to allow your thoughts to live on, not committ thought suicide as you suggest.
