I just found this on the web, it's horrible. I didn't know this was happening. Here is the site if you want to continue reading it:

Some years ago, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation show "Witness" explored the exploitation of animals and the great love of pets, especially in western countries. The show documented the worst and the best that people mete out to animals. Many Canadians and Americans were most horrified at the segments showing how cats and dogs, companion animals in the west, were raised for slaughter and food in certain South East Asian countries.
Previously a British TV programme had shown the preparation of cat at restaurants in part of China. The diner selected a cat and observed its preparation. The conscious cat was thrown into boiling water then dumped in a pail of cold water. This made skinning easier. Some "boiled" cats were alive and moving feebly when dumped in cold water. Some were still moving during skinning and would ultimately have bled to death, perhaps during evisceration. The Chinese place great emphasis on freshness of food hence the live skinning of food animals. I spoke to a Chinese colleague who said that the word for "animal" in his native tongue translates as "moving thing" - animals are considered no more sentient than vegetables.

The chinese language are actually not the only human beings to consume canines or cat. at the same time as living in Italy I ate meat sauce created from canines and it became into fairly sturdy tasting. some international locations do it for least costly motives, others cultural. in my opinion i do no longer see the version in that and a few individuals ingesting turtle or squirrel. according to possibility they simply like it!!

I myself am a Chinese, but I've never ate any of them. My mother told me that Chinese people do eat dogs, but it's normally eaten in the winter because it is known to warm up the body. As for cats, it's very rare because it is an expensive delicacy and most Chinese people haven't even ate this.

In some areas of the country of China - Yes. But as a general rule - NO. Peoples in different countries of the world eat different things. In India they will not eat beef but will eat horse. Korea is most likely the number one country for eating dog - but in recent years they are trying to discourage that as it offends us. In most of southeast asia they eat rats so a dog or cat is a big step up.

Do Americans really eat pigs which are even smarter than cats and dogs? Do Americans capture dolphins and make the dolphins perform tricks for the humans even though humans have never taken the time to determine how highly intelligent these creatures are?

I'm a chinese, but I dont eat either of it. In most part of china, I heard they do. Not too sure about cats though. I would never be caught dead eating them, even if I had a gun pointed on my head. It's too cruel and disgusting, i think. My mum occassionally cooks pork, and their organs too. I grew up watching everyone around me eating it, but I don't. Even their bones are cooked in soups (for flavour only). Every part of the pig will be eaten and used.

Korean people eat dogs, I don't know about the Chinese. Pork is usually a big factor in Chinese cooking.
