We were having a bbq and my cats tail caught on fire but I put it out with some jello that was next to me, anything I should do after that? I rubbed it with this anti burn stuff and it seemed to help!

Burns are potentially a very serious injury.

You should not put anything on them but cold running water (that applies to people and animals).

The water needs to be running over the burn for at least ten minutes. This is the only way to cool the affected area properly. No gels or creams or anything else!

Get a vet to look because it could become infected very easily.

How on earth could a cat catch fire from a BBQ? They are a small animal and unlikely to be able to reach a BBQ without human assistance so I have to wonder if you or your family have deliberately done this. I sincerely hope not - only an evil moron would hurt a defenseless animal.

You need to take your cat to the vet. While the anti-burn medication may be helping remember that your cat is likely to lick it off and it may be poisonous to him. Your vet also needs to assess the severity of the burn and help determine if pain killers are a good idea.

You should be calling the vet instead of asking strangers on the Internet.
