God got out of the Intelligent Design when he neglected to invent the Dinosaurs. They aren't mentioned in the bible, and a boat like the one that Noah built couldn't hold all the breeding pairs required. According to the bible God created man just after he created the universe and then on the 7th day he rested. He forgot to create dinosaurs first so he couldn’t have created man later.
The last nail on the coffin lid of Intelligent Design was when man started breeding dogs and horses. Every species of dog is descended for one, the wolf. Man interfered with their evolution by breeding for the characteristics he wanted creating new species of dog.
God faded away to almost nothing when the bible was proved to be in error. Galileo found the moons of Jupiter and proved that everything did not revolve around the Earth.
But, what really killed him off was the discovery of the scientific method. Now intelligent people require proof before they believe in something. I’m talking actual hold in your hand or in front of your eyes proof. Not the bible, we know that it is a flawed book, and you can’t prove something is true by quoting it.
I may be an atheist but I believe the church does a lot of good for society. The church and the bible provide a good moral code and an excellent example of how we should live our lives. But, the bible isn’t the ultimate resource, it was written by man. Sure God inspired man to write it, but he didn’t sit there and dictate it to the authors.
If you look at organized religion then you see the source for a lot of the hatred in the world today. No matter whose religion they will always find someone to hate. The teachings will be corrupted and flawed. Do you think it is right for the church to sell permission to commit a sin? Martin Luther and the Lutherans don’t. But, this is one way that the church used to raise the funds to build those great cathedrals of the Middle Ages.
Religion is good, but only in small doses, and those close-minded bible thumpers don’t even know their own history or their own bible. If so they would be using Jesus’ greatest weapon love, instead of hate.

Some believe that once the original creation was completed, God no longer added to the species of plants and animals. These people propose that all evolutionary change that has occurred since that time has been the result of evil entering the world, causing changes in the ideal world God had created and those changes being responded to by adaptation process.
I don't know where this is explained in the bible so I have no basis for an opinion one way or another.
But I am very sure that God is feeling okay...we spoke just a few minutes ago. I'll mention that you hope he's well.

What makes you think he did? Is there not more to existence than what you and I can see? Is there not a vast universe with literally billions of stars out there? Is there not the mostly uncharted reaches of the oceans? We occassionally do find plants and animals that have never been discovered or ones that we thought died off long ago. Something to think about.

There's nothing new under the sun; everything was there when time began.
It's up to man to invent new things...not God.
