I think you're a true American. Welcome to America.
There should be one day a year where people celebrate culture. i.e. Cinco de Mayo, St. Patricks Day, Columbus Day, etc.

Illegal immigration ,as an issue, hurts legal immigrants more than anybody else. So, I think many hispanics who have immigrated here, think like you do.Though the american news media system does not allow for many voices of any kind to ever be displayed.
You are not racist. For their are unbiased reasons why immigration should stop. If you see a fellow hispanic illegally coming in the country, stopping them does not mean you are racist. But, if you do not try to help them find a better life where they are from, then you should be accused of a greater crime.
A bias of humanity, not race.
So, envelope american culture and teach others to make the culture they are trying to leave better

my only question is...why would you be against their celebration?
there is nothing wrong with holding onto your culture. and there's nothing wrong with not holding onto it. what is wrong is criticizing one person for doing either one.
I'm all for cherishing your heritage regardless of where you came from. however, i do see Latinos trying to bring their culture here and shoving it down others throats. I'm Hispanic by blood. however, both my parents were born in LA, my grandparents were born in Texas. their parents born in Texas. So my culture is always American.
Am i upset with border jumpers coming here? no. Why? because what they do doesn't affect me. i will not clean houses for a living, i don't plan on landscaping for a living. they do what they can to survive and for a better advantage. as long as they follow our laws, who does it really hurt? so that beat up truck with all the lawnmowers and cleaning supplies drives slow and causes traffic, but those $5K rims on it sure made me laugh! when you violate our laws, you get deported. that's all. if you had been deported once, you should not be allowed back in.

my wife says she's talked to a lot of people like that... we live in Argentina and she used to work at a call center doing customer service for Americans. She would talk to a lot of people who don't speak much English, and of course she obviously speaks Spanish, but they would refuse to speak Spanish and adamantly insist that they were Americans and they speak English Only.
Personally, I think it's kind of weird. I mean, I live in Argentina now and I am learning castellano and I consider it to be a part of who I am but that doesn't change where I came from. I'm also an Estadounidense, and despite my absolute disgust with some of the things that are going on in my country, I am not ashamed of being an American. I think a person can have two cultures.
(confused about thumbs-down? did I say something wrong?)

so in other words, all the other countries in the world must ban coca cola, McDonald's and Nike from their markets?
looks like you made a mess of this one...
I find it a pity that you should need to sell your soul just to feel integrated. It's a clear message that somethings wrong with the whole process of integrating aliens in the USA.
You are a latina and in every american's deep mind you'll always remain that spanish latina. Be proud of your origins and culture and don't try to hide from where you come from.

No, It's all good.
Everybody is allowed to think however they want. Being racist is when you dislike a certain race or races.I personally am o.k with illegal immigrants.i'm glad to see that you, unlike the rest of the bastards here, are sensitive enough to think about your actions and opinions

Racist? No! Smart, Patriotic, Legal American? Well, if you're legal, then you're smart and patriotic. If you're not legal, well, then there's other words to describe you. I only hope you are legal. God Bless you.

Good point, my friend. You won't get too many intelligent responses from people though. People believe what they want to believe. The best way for them to gain support for their movement is by convincing people that it's all about racism.
