My 12 year old daughter brushes her teeth twice a day with floridde tooth paste.

Her uper last molar on the right will need a root canal {thay wont garentee it will save it and our family has hard times with root canals}

Or it will have to come out

the dentist says coming out is the best option the time of it she will be on bioxin XL

they say this is acually good

What should i and she know?

What about recovery?

I know to ask the dentist but want an idea

If this is her third molar, or wisdom tooth, and if her teeth are large enough for her mouth, I would probably elect to simply pull it. She has an abscessed tooth, which is an infection, thus the antibiotic. You really want to follow this advice, because the mouth flora is famous for infecting heart valves, a complication easily avoided by the judicious use of proper antibiotics.

I had all four wisdom teeth out one morning and that evening was out running around. Jaw was kind of sore, but not particularly swollen.

I had a root canal on another molar, and was at school that afternoon.

sounds like it is her 12 year molar. If they dont think the root canal will work then the only other option is to remove the tooth. She will need a day to recover, to be safe. But other than that she will be fine. She may be prescribed a pain medication if the dentist thinks she will have post op discomfort.
You should know that you can replace the tooth with an implant so she has 100% chewing ability. But the 12 year molar doesnt do as much 'chewing' as the molar in front of it (6yr molars do about 70% of chewing) so I guess if you want to think of it in a positive way, be glad it wasnt her 6 year molar (then you would HAVE to replace it for a variety of reasons).
I would recommend that your daughter start using Xylitol to help reduce the amount of cavities she gets, it also helps reduce plaque too! She should chew a Xylitol gum (Trident or Spry) or use Xylitol mints or even Xylitol candy! several times a day (3-4xs) especially after eating. She should get 6-10gms of Xylitol a day for the benefits. Check out a local health food store for more info or Xlear.com. It is a natural sweetener, so actually is safer than Fluoride (but I still recommend she brush with the fluoride toothpaste 2-3 times a day.)

i've had 2 wisdom teeth taken out..both on upper...that's the only 2 i ever had, didn't get any on lower...anyway, having them extracted was no diff. than any other extraction, but bear in mind that my roots were small on both teeth...but a friend of mine had his cut out and was put to sleep and was out the same evening playing basketball, so it's not that bad...and as far as root canals go...i've had 5...just make sure you go to a good reputable dentist to have the procedure done or maybe even one that specializes in root canals...i'm sure they "could" be painful, but all of mine were pain free...no problems at all....but i have to agree with the person who answered before me, if her teeth are large enough for her mouth, i would probably just have the tooth removed....
