Hello, I am thinking about getting back on anti-depressant. Life sucks, or so it seems, and I need a drug to put me back to normal.

About 3 years ago, I was put on Zoloft for my depression. It works wonderful, I was finally able to see where my life was heading, and Zoloft gave me the confidence to take action and readjust my life. I was great but I felt NUMB. Have you ever heard of the Song: Hurt, by Jonny Cash? That was exactly what I felt when on Zoloft. The whole 3 years was NUMB and pass by too quickly, it's like I was not there most of the time, hours seems like it was minutes. All I can remember is when my next dosage of Zoloft.

Another side effect was that I was too frank with people and did not care about there feelings, this was not normal for me, I am always kind to people, but when on Zoloft, I feel callous.

That's what I've encounter with Zoloft, don't like the feeling and hoping that Prozac will be different. What's your experience?

My doc explained to me the Prozac, Zoloft, and Paxil are all made of the same similar ingredient, but in varying amounts. Prozac is the strongest, Zoloft in the middle, and Paxil is the lowest form of it. I tried Zoloft first, but it was too strong for me, so she switched me to Paxil. So, go with the level you have used previously, and judge how it is working for you.

Zoloft is strong but Prozac is much stronger.

You should ask your doctor and take the doctor's advice. There is not a popularity contest between Zoloft and Prozac. One is medically indicated for some people and the other is for other people. They are too powerful to screw with based on your own whims or what you can whine for.
Doctors also can adjust dosages and timing if you are having bad reactions to Zoloft. Work it out with doctor's help.

I took Zoloft for three months and it worked great, however the side effects of it caused me major problems...it dried my mouth and nose out so bad I'd get nose bleeds. My doctor switched me to Prozac and it seems to work great, and without the side effects of Zoloft, but remember everyone reacts different to these types of meds.

Sorry, don't want to go there! I had a friend who was addicted to Zoloft - she had very nasty withdrawal symptoms and couldn't be alone with her kids! Better try Prozac.
