Gosh, what a choice. I guess a soft yellow. I have blue-gray carpet and I don't like it. I bought a large rug to cover the majority of it. If you are not a male, you could try something in soft lavender shade. It would work. Dont worry about the cabinets. Try putting some throw rugs (large size) with various shades in them and it would bring more color to the room.

Is there any way to lighten the cabinets? No? Okay than..... You get an area rug that has browns and blue-grey it along with other colors, you take one of the other colors and use it for a paint color and accessorize in the remaining color and blue-grey and brown. Have fun with it. Good luck.

Any light color. I would either do white or cream or depending on the other colors in your house you could do a very very light blue to pick up the blues in the carpet. But since its a small room, make sure you don't do a dark color or it will close the room in.

pick up the lightest blue paint with a touch of grey in it. If you can, buy small cans of paint and paint 2ft sections on the wall. Then it will be easier to decide which one you can live with. Watch it throughout the day-the paint will change colors depending on the time of day, angle of the sun, etc. North and east tend to be lighter, cooler and west and south lit rooms tend to have more of a yellow or orange glow. Your room sounds cool and soothing. Have fun choosing colors!

A very pale blue or gray. Dark colors make a small room appear even more closed in. Happy painting. Wanna come over to my house? I need some ceilings painted.

Neutral colors can provide the backdrop for other colors. Colors can be divided into three main groups: those that stimulate and uplift, those that relax and calm. A light blue or a gray make a small room seem wider, or use the wall colors to mark off areas according to actives.

White or Teracotta if you MUST go with a color...
You should also do polka dots on the dark brown with the same color as the carpet.....only though, if the cabinets are painted....
If they are stained, then only paint with white, and leave the cabinets alone.

Any light colour would go well with what you have and open up the room. Personally I would think soft peach (very light) or silvery white, or even a very light spring green (so light on all these colours that it looks white til you see white against it) then bring more colour in in throws pillows drapes etc.

If you can't or won't change the colors of your carpet and cabinets, maybe a light beige can tie them together.
