When I was about 13-17 years old, I attended and was very much committed to God. I never missed any church event, witnessed to everyone I met, and was filled with the holy spirit at an early age. I ready my bible every chance I got. I prayed for the gift of speaking in tongues, and I did it. I dinn't know I did at first, but then I became aware of it. Then about a year later, (still very much into the spirit) I was praying in church and a women began to speak in tongues, next thing I knew I was interpetting it. I don't know how it happend, or even what I was saying. (like an outter body experience) All I know is it was like it wasn't me, then when I "came" back, I was finishing saying, "Have peace my child, have peace." I went to a penecostal church. However, I never had anyone help me understand what was happening. I woulf like ot know more about how it happends, and any other information anyone might have.

Bless you. It means you have been born of God and have the gift of God (holy spirit) in you.

This gift of God has nine manifestations. They are:

Speaking in tongues, Interpretation of Tongues, Prophesy
Word of Knoweldge, Word of Wisdom, Discerning of Spirits.
Faith, Miracles and Healing.

It would take too long to explain them all here so I will explain just the two you have experienced and point out that you have the ability to do all nine whenever and wherever you choose.

Speaking in tongues is tha ability to speak in a language that is unknown to you the speaker. It may be known to others nearby, but will always be unknown to the speaker. It is never of the devil and cannot be counterfieted by the enemy of God. It is always speaking the 'wonderful works of God' and is perfect prayer. There are those (and I noticed one here) that believe it is only a known language that is poken. But it is not. It is the languages of men and angels. Some are dead languages. Some sound like gibberish or noise. They are all legitimate.

I have got so practised at it now that I can do so in my head while talking to others. It is operated by the spirits so has no actual connection to the mind.

It is also under your free will control. Not under the control of any 'spirit'. You see, your spirit is under control of your free will. You choose when and where you will speak. You choose when you wil start and stop. You can even choose which sound you will start with. But God gives you the words to speak as you speak.

Interpretation is similar but in the language of those present. It is correctly used when two or more beleivers are present and is a message from God or for God to the people. However, there is some confusion in many churches that beleive that one speaks in tongues and another interprets. That is not what the word of God says.

It is the one that speaks in tongues that needs to believe to interpret. What you actually did when you interpreted for another was bring forth a word of prophecy which is literally interpretation of tongues without the tongues. But I won't confuse you further there.

When you speak in tongues privately to yourself, you do not believe to intepret. It is for your private prayer life and is perfect prayer to God. It is you spirit speaking to God's spirit.

When you do so in a bleievers meeting you should beleive to bring forth the interpretation. Then it is tongues with interpretation and will always bring forth a blessing, and building up of the body of beleivers.

Like the speaking in tongues it is by your free will choice. The reason you experienced it like it wasn't you is because it was your spirit that was doing the speaking for you. You see, like speaking in tongues God will give you the words to speak. You just speak them.

The other manifestations also work the same way. You believe, you act, God acts with you.

If you want to know more and a full in depth understanding and explanation of all nine manifestations, how they work, how to use them, what they are for and when they are best used, then contact me by email. I will be only too happy to give all the info I have and answer any questions. I have been actively using all nine manifestations for over twenty years now and understand how they work and what the word of God says about them.

I would be very blessed to pass this knowledge or any part of it on to you.

The way you write sounds like you are a christian and because of this you know you can not judge others but there are times when i think many people who speak in tongues are just pretending. A pysic dr will say its a state of temporary confusion or a behaviour to just show off. If what happened to you was really u should be able to find your asnwers in the bible you have already been given Acts 4.

Well, I don't want to burst your bubble but the Gift of Tongues is the ability to speak in a "REAL" language (such as Arabic, French, German), not gibberish. When you have the gift of tongues you do know what you are saying. I'm not saying you spoke in gibberish, but there isn't a reason for people to do this now-a-days. The Gift of Tongues is extremely rare because it is unnecessary. The Apostles were given the Gift of Tongues so that they could preach to all peoples and those peoples could receive the Word of God. Since the Gospel has been preached to all peoples of all nations, there is little or no need for this anymore.

Now unfortunately the devil can delude us with this gift of tongues thing. He likes sensationalism and he likes to get people worked into a frenzy.

definite, it must be. yet greater in all probability that's the two somebody faking it or merely an emotional outburst. You in no way hear of every physique with the flexibility to interpret what a guy or woman says while they supposedly talk in tongues and the Bible says that there could desire to be an interpreter. and under 3 human beings at a time can talk in tongues. between the Apostles had to be present while somebody spoke in tongues. that's all contained in the Bible. And talking in tongues became the least of the presents given to guy for the purpose of spreading Christianity.

It is a good thing to know that you have dedicated your life to God from so young

My belief of "the gift of tongues" is you speaking To GOD and in some cases it is God Speaking to you and through you to his people.
The interpretation is just a higher level of that gift.
You can't be a Spanish interpreter if you don't speak Spanish can you?

Hope this helps.Continue being blessed.Don't worry all those who don't believe.Guess who they call out to when a crisis strikes?Even the simplest one e.g Something heavy fell on their little toe

I've been in churches when people speak in tongues and I think it is just learned behaviour. You get people who think they are more spiritual or closer to god because they have these so called gifts of the spirit. Stick to speaking in a language you can understand and use a bit of common sense

Christians seem to think that 'Speaking in Tongues' means babbling incoherently. It is actually a kind of induced hysteria.

In the bible, the 'gift of tongues' meant that anyone could understand your speech, no matter what language they spoke. For example, someone who had the 'gift of tongues' could be speaking to a crowd in Greek, and people who DID NOT UNDERSTAND Greek would hear and understand the speaker as if he were speaking in their own language... just like the 'babblefish' in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Of course, just like the 'babblefish', this is pure horseshit. It was horseshit in biblical times... it is horseshit now.

Congratulations, you've successfully hypnotised yourself !

I'm not kidding.
According to your bible, speaking in tongues is not the popular gibberish you see in church, but rather supposed to be the interpretation of real language(s).

I would hate to see anyone get wrapped up in that babbling bit, it's not even biblical.
