When we first came to this side of the world, who was here first? Whose life style did we ruin? Whose land did we steal? How many times did we say that these people can have a chunk of land to theirselves; only to steal it away from them....Again? I am talking about the Native Americans. We just barged right in, and settled in like we owned the place. Isn't that what we are claiming that some Mexicans are doing...Stealing our land and way of life? By the way, didn't we steal some land from the Mexicans? I'm sure you remember the Mexican War.
One more thing, Mexicans who come here illegally don't steal the jobs that anyone wants. I highly doubt that an illegal Mexican can become a Chief Execative of a big company. Some how I doubt places like McDonlds, Pizza Hut, Disney World, ETC are hireing Mexicans who came here illegally. What do they do? They either do jobs where you can easily pay them "under the counter"....Some unfortunate people are working in jobs that are illegal.....Sweat shops/prostitution/etc. Unless you woke up and decided you wanted these jobs, us legal citizens are not missing out on anything. If you just quit bitching and get off ur fatass, you would have already known that.

Here we go again, with the 'they stole america' crap. Wake up and smell the frijoles there, 'sparky', guilt trip's OVER. The people trying to live in the past and make specious claims against our country are trying to leech a welfare check out of the government, they feel they are 'owed' something, well the US/Mexico war took place and ended in the 1840's, was followed by the Gadsden Purchase, and effectively represented the end of our territorial expansion with the acquisition of California. There's some that'd like to roll back that history to their direct economic advantage, or at least be carried for life without lifting a finger. Don't fall for the hype. Yes, it IS hype, this is 2006, if you want money, go out and get a JOB.
NO amnesty for illegals, most of them are from Mexico, and they've neglected their own country most grievously, imagine what they can do for america! Speaking only for myself, I think we can do quite nicely without that kind of 'help'.
Talking ABOUT Mexico, let us envision a world in which Mexico decided to fix up their own country to the extent and degree necessary to support its' own citizens in a style generally comparable to what you'd expect IN the US. If they just dug in and did it, would there BE any illegal immigration? Nope. They'd be perfectly happy at home. True 'help' implies teaching people to help themselves, rather than just throwing money at them and hoping they'll shut up, and go away. That kind of tactic is kind of like wrestling with a pig...after a while, you realize the pig kind of likes it...and the neighbors are laughing at you. LOL
While it is true that america was 'previously owned', it is also true that this is a fact that's firmly cemented in the history books, also known as 'the past'. MY vote is for grabbing the remote, and changing from the history channel to the space channel...onward and upward, not backward and downward. If you wanna help other countries, help build schools there or something. Apologists will do nothing less than bankrupt this country. Maybe instead of crying a river over facts and history that can't be changed even if we wanted to, and doling out good money after bad, how about encouraging positive growth in countries like Mexico, through development and investment? That'd be way smarter...and it'd encourage more mexican people to stick with their country instead of trying to bolt across the border in the dead of night, risking life and limb to scrub toilets etc.

The first people to this country came over from another Continent on a land bridge so they were not Native to this area either. We settled the land ,yes we took the land and at a high price, thousands of settlers and their families were sacrificed in that effort. But the land is ours and as for Mexico they lost a war and the lands were the 'Spoils" of war,the government also paid Millions to the Mexican government for the land.We also bought the Louisiana purchase from France. This land belongs only to Americans, not the Indians, not Mexico but to the Americans that worked and died for this great country.so to me you have no argument. The illegals need to be deported ,no exceptions,NO amnesty .Close the borders, place the military there to guard it and stop this invasion of America.
And tori you insulted Americans first. Maybe if you had your fact straight ,which you don't someone would respect that.Illegals can and do work at major company's,they use fake Social Security cards, they get welfare and free medical care ,you DO NOT know what you are talking about.I live in AZ there are thousands upon thousands working at MC Donald's etc, they cant speak English so they put pictures on the menu and all you do is point I speak Spanish but people wanting a damn Big Mac in the USA shouldn't have to.You need to get some facts before opening your big mouth.

What people fail to see that this has been used as a diversionary tactic by the current administration as a tool to divert attention from the criticism and fall from grace that they have recieved. This has been allowed to go on under the watchful eye of the federal government for generations with many of our dear politicians illegally utilizing the services of illegal workers. It has only been successful in enflaming the american public and putting a dividing line between us all. It is near time for mid term elections and the current administrations base has weakened terribly. Had the federal government not turned a blind eye to this situation, the problem would be of less consequence. The fault lies with them in the end, the people that we pay way too much to execute the law of this land.

Mexican's are not American or Spanish/Latino they are just all the black's that where brought from Africa and all the Native's, and I like what you said about Mexican's working in sweet shop's :P but some reason I think manily not sweet shops xD and why should Mexican's be allowed to go to U.S.A at all? they need tighter imigration law's the WHOLE world dose, here in Spain U.S.A give's us somthing like 1000,000 places a year to get a green card I still think this is too much, why should you get all the people who do not want to work here? to go over there and do stupid jobs? I suppose it's a good thing with out imigration we would have to employ Spainish to be dust bin men and job's no one else would do, but Mexican's for you must be like Arab's here no one care's when they die or what ever all we care is that they don't destory the crounty
and U.S.A people are cool :p but the war on Iraq was a good thing (well sort of) the bloody arab's didnt even want to be libirated all I see on the new's is people wanting to fight US troops are they crazy you gave them freedom I belive they owe there live's to you bloody arabs

Thanks. The USA has been pushing neo-liberalism down our throats and supported the white and corrupt oligarchy in latin america all the way ,puppets to serve them right. What about the ways Latin America has been feeding the US economy(the natural resources, the multinational companies, the free-trade jokes, the maquiladoras, the jobs those realities indirectly created for the USA citizens in the USA) what about the coup-makings in Chile and Nicaragua and Guatemala, what about the real implications of the NAFTA things
Don't worry, people and don't you feel small changed .The USA administration will always chose a lucrative, beneficial way.Again, what do you think that made such a big success story of America?
for the record I've never been illegal .It's just for the sake of accuracy, and ignorance and malintention make me sick

You ever heard of war? We beat the natives in battle. This land may have originally been there's, but they lost it fair and square. I don't want to say survival of the fittest, but if they were to have defeated our militia, and the militia's of France and Spain previously, there would probably be no European influence in the America's whatsoever. My problem with illegal immigration is that now, this is United States of America. Yes, we must remember that we are a nation of immigrants. Yet, we have generally accepted that when you come to this nation, you abide by our rules and laws. The problem with illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America is that they think they can live how they want to. Did you know that an illegal immigrant does not have to pay out of state tuition for a university, yet a law abiding, tax paying American must pay for this? My problem is that illegals have rights that they do not deserve. They don't pay taxes, their kids grow up ignorant to education and often turn to gangs, organized crime, and drug dealing. Dude, they are taking up our jails. Your tax paying money goes to pay for illegals to be housed in jail. Doesn't that piss you off?

In my opinion, what American citizens are concerned with is not the fact that we are taking their jobs as day laborers but rather are afraid of what we can amount to become. Yes, perhaps our parents came here illegally and worked in the fields or whatever the case may be, but the second generation is becoming more astute and are getting educated. This is what they are afraid of. Today we are doing those menial jobs, and tomorrow we will be the ceo's, attorney's, doctor's, etc.
