I do the "online" dating thing. Why do some girls, when you give them your phone #, say things like, "I'm too shy about calling someone," or "I'm too new at this," and then proceed to give you their number. Doesn't that seem odd that they would rather give me their number. I gave them mine because I didn't know if they were comfortable giving out their number. Just a thought.....

The guy is SUPPOSED to call the girl. I know I wouldn't want to make the first phone call. I'd want him to call ME- it makes me feel wanted and special and let's me know he's actually into me.

Some people are genuinely shy. I'm shy and i would definitely give out my number before I would call someone. However, some girls might say that to see how much you like them. Because if you really like them you will call them no matter what. But, just because someone is shy does not make them a whore as "someone" put it. I hate being shy and would love for someone to make the first move

Not knowing anything about the women online, but even though the dating rules have changed from the 1960's, according to a survey, women still want to be persued and called during the first date. In other words, the guy is the one that calls and suggests going out. I met a girl on myspace and her and I have been dating for 7 months now. And even though she sent me a message indicating how she liked my profile, she told me that if I wouldn't have asked her out for coffee, she would have been to nervious to ask herself. That being said, be the confident man that takes their number, give them a call and meet in some social place (i.e. mall, coffee shop, etc.) do not go to a movie. Well I did that once and I was the same way as the girl your talking about. I am kinda shy about calling guys, and I would rather have them make the first move, about anything.

Because they would rather you call them. I never call anyone for the first time... Most girls dont.
