Well, MOST people want you to believe that nonsense that they were invented in Buffalo, NY. Ha! I say, and Ha! again.
The real truth is that they come from a species of winged dwarf buffalo only found in regions where bleu cheese is made.
Unfortunately, the poor little critters were accidentally cross bred with lemmings. So whenever they see a vat of bleu cheese salad dressing being made, they have an uncontrollable urge to leap headfirst into the stuff and drown.
If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. I'd be happy to explain the origin of Babe Ruth candy bars, too.
