My girlfriend was dating this guy for 4 months. He goes away for Labor Day weekend and never calls her again. He is a 34-year old professional and they had an amazing sex life and friendship--seemingly he'd be mature enough to communicate with her that it was over instead of ignore her calls and text messages.
What's so difficult about saying a simple..."It's over between us."
I know that this is not ALL men...I'm asking about the ones for whom it applies. It is a natural human need to have closure. And such ambiguity makes it more difficult for the second party to move on.

Mr.Me...you couldn't be farther from the truth LOL. Projection is poor etiquette. Please keep your personal issues to yourself and stick to the question. Thank you!

I agree. I've had it happen to me, too - he just stops calling, and I'm supposed to take a hint. Some people are cowards, what can I say! Several times I had to tell someone I didn't want to continue on with the relationship, and it was REALLY HARD to do when I knew they really liked me. But I had to do it... I couldn't just "not call". Some people can, apparently. Because it IS difficult to tell someone "it's over"; it really is.

i hear ya - women love closure - men are chickens and run scared from an uncomfortable situation - they're probably afraid the women will get all weepy and crazed, but what they don't understand is that most women appreciate honesty more than being hurt - i made a guy promise me when we first started dating that we would let each other know when we didn't want to do it anymore - he promised, but guess what - he bolted - shame on men who do that!! (the mature men do not do that - that's the difference between a real man and a little boy trapped in a man's body)

There is no closure in life. You get over it on your own.
There just isn't enough information here to know what the situation was.
Do we know if this guy is dead?
Is your friend crazy?
Like will hunt him down and stab him crazy?
Maybe he's afraid she'll slice him up into little bits.
Or maybe she already has....... =-O

It's true that it may well be over! But, they still care about the person!
And they can't stand to hear the hurt in their voice or see it in their eyes! For some that is more than they can bare!

and what are YOU bothered about?
obviously you are concerned with something else then the attitude of the ex...c'mon!!...you're afraid he'll pop over someday and she'll walk back with him?..if she does, well she was not worth it...and if she's still craving for him...dump the gal ...
mark my words...
