Yes, it is possible because the bile duct is still there and that is what gets obstructed.

biliary obstruction ca recur after cholecystectomy due to 2 reason,
1. new stone formation in the bile duct. or more commonly..
2. due to small stone left behind in the duct , as only the gall baldder is removed .

and the doctor forgot to mention that in some the presence of bilirary tract stones and gallstones could signify liver disease.

i have nash and did have hepatitis c. years prior i had to have my gallbladder removed do to stones. sometimes stones are the first sign of liver disease so get tested.....

*rule of thumb for docs out there running standard blood lab tests...HCV does not show an increase in ALT and AST levels in every patient, but that does not mean they don't have HCV so TEST for antibodies!!!
