im trying to work out how to enamal coat graphite rods to help them last longer while subjected to extreme temperatures. im using .5mmX1cm graphite rods and burning them with a 12v battery with alagator clips on each end. it burns brighter than the sun and my VS7 lenses are not dark enough to block out the light, or at least to the point where it is bearable. it can cut through aluminum cans like butter and can melt the steel alagator clips. it is pretty much carbon ark cutting. also, does anyone know where i can get heavier diameter graphite(other than just .7mm)

Apply nano technology for coating your carbon rods with some earth matter. That will really insulate it. Or for less insulation some metal oxide coating.
