Mac OS X is easier to use and maintain. It has far better security: Zero viruses and Spyware. It is easier to add hardware, since most devices just work when you plug them in, with no software installation needed, and no nasty 'Wizards' getting in the way.

OS X also has better support for upcoming 64-bit applications, since they and their drivers can run along side the older 32-bit applications and drivers without needing separate versions of the operating system.

These are just some examples, but there are hundreds (thousands?) of little advantages to OS X that add up to make using it a pleasure compared to any version of Windows.

By the way, Macs are also the only computers that can legally run OS X, Windows, and Linux from separate partitions on your hard drive.

Mac OS X is vastly superior to Windows. Vista will be nothing more than a rip off of OS X "Tiger". By the time Vista finally ships, "Leopard" will be there to blow it out of the water. OS X is more secure. The GUI is as beautiful as it is functional. OS X doesn't hog your system resources like Windows. OS X is designed to make full use of a multi-core system. OS X is natively 64-bit. OS X is built on UNIX. OS X is compatible with more file formats right out of the box. Windows does not even support DVD playback without third party software. Windows does not support PDF out of the box, while OS X uses it extensively throughout the system. I guess all I'm trying to say here is that Windows sucks, hands down.

Open BSD is better (What the MAC SW is based on) but to complex for most end users. Try to find software without compliling it yourself.

As much as i'm a MS basher most end users can understand the basics of XP and use it without becoming a geek.

Besides the real question is why the OS works better on the MAC. The OS is customize just to work on one type of hardware, this allown will make it stronger and have less errors. When the maker of software don't know what type of hardware the OS is going on they have to generalize it and that makes it bugy and slows preformance.

MacOSX. It is based on UNIX. A very stable operating system and it is hard to get hacked. And all other answerers are saying MacOS is a better operating system than PC.

From a technical standpoint, Almost every alternative out there is better than Windows. From a usability standpoint, I wouldn't know.
