you have to admit, human food smells much nicer than cat food!
Try eating what he eats for a week, and see how many friends you lose!
I have never had a cat, but always had dogs. Never met a dog with exceptionaly good breath either!
Nothing beats a fresh Listerine mouth on a human!

It sounds like he has a dental problem, possibly a bad tooth or a build up of plaque. My dog had the same problem about a month a go his breathe was disgusting it actually made you gag. I had a look at his teeth and they where covered in plaque. I took him to the vet and he was given anaesthetic so the vet could clean his teeth, they are immaculate now. Apparently its just something that can happen, some cats and dogs suffer from it will others don't. You just have to make sure you get the problem treated quick enough before it caused gum disease as it can result in your pet losing most of their teeth.
You should know it is quite expensive it cost me £135 just to have his teeth cleaned, it will probably be cheaper for a cat. You can also buy cat and dog toothpaste and toothbrushes form your local pet store.
Hope this helps

He may have periodontal disease and need a dental cleaning from your vet. Cats frequently get gingivitis and dental infections. You can check yourself, but a vet should really take a look. Look for hard brown tartar on the teeth, especially the back teeth, reddened gums, receding gums, pockets of infection, pus, and food, etc. Dental care is very important since it can lead to other problems like heart valve infections and kidney or liver damage. Also, there is some new research that links dental disease with diabetes in cats. Halitosis (bad breath) can come from other sources as well, including but not limited to kidney disease so have your vet take a look asap.

I know what you mean! have a look at your cats teeth, if they have a lot of brown staining , go to the vet and get some toothpaste and a brush for cats which the vet can give you, at the same time get the vet to check if there is a abcess causing this problem. Im sure there is nothing serious to worry about. God luck

It's a combination of tartar build up and tooth decay. You have to take him to the vet and get his teeth cleaned, he will probably have to have some removed. You then buy toothpaste from the vets and give him a pearl size amount a day to keep his teeth cleaned. This is what i had to do and my cats breath doesn't smell anymore. P.S. it costs a small fortune but worth it.

Bad breath can be a sympton of ceratain deseases so you may want to check with the vet. Also do you feed the cat wet food? because wet food no matter what you do gives a cat bad breath.

I have the same problem with our cat. I take Beast for teeth cleaning and everything. But when a cat licks its butt all the time, I guess the smell is not going to go away.

Cats are carnivores and must be fed raw meat. Get your cats teeth checked, but feed him meat, meat, meat. Cats have not invented biscuits - being intelligent creatures, they have surmised thay have no use for them, and are probably condemning the entire Human race to eternal contumely for attempting to feed them such muck. Do cats catch biscuits? No, they catch mice, birds, rabbits, rats etc. And they eat them.
Also, they like to have a bit of grass (not cannabis!). It clears their stomachs. Yes, they will sick it up, but the process disposes of furballs etc and really cheers up the cat. Surely that is worth the mess.

He may well have decayed teeth, for which you will need to take him to the vet, just as you have to go to the dentist if you have dental problems.
It is important that you should get your cat's teeth checked. Bad teeth are not good for his health and will make him an unhappy cat.

First, you should take him to the vet, then, try feeding him catfood.Your cat might have a bad tooth or something, but it is nothing to be concerned about. My cat has bad breath too, but there is nothing wrong with his teeth or gums.
