I would first say read the bible.
Then to help understand it, not take the place of it. I would reccomend a concordance.
For uplifting stories of real people and how they dealt with real life trials and tribulations, I would say any of the chicken soup for the soul books.

There are many great book on these subjects. Some of our great evanaglist like Billy Graham has several books on these subject. But to go along with these great book, I for one, have found no trurer book than the Bible. The Bible is sometimes hard to understand and I feel that is why we have people like Billy Graham as authors to help us to understand the meaning of the Bible. Before I read my Bible, I ask the Lord to help me to understand what I read. I don't always understand it right then as I am reading, but later I may be thinking about what I have read and it comes to me . Or I may be talking to someone and suddenly my mind will go back to what I had read in the Bible and an enlightment is there. I have read a chapter in the Bible and the pastor would have a sermon about what I had read the next Sunday morning. The answer to your question is THE BIBLE

"Concept of Rational Spirituality" on the Dhaxem website.
Because it does not expect you to take anything at face value and blindly believe. It explains every detail rationally and logically, and reading it you will know that you are reading the truth about the Universe and yourself. You will have to read it a few time, to study it, in order to absorb everything, but when you do, you will be a new and an enlightened human being, standing high above the ground.
Best wishes,

"The Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way" by Nagarjuna (India, 2nd-3rd centuries AD), translated and commented by Jay L Garifeld. It's one of the most influential philosophical treatises ever written in Asia, and immensely important for the evolution of Mahayana Buddhist philosophy, still studied and commented in Buddhist monasteries and universities all over the world.
And I can assure you it will give you interesting views on how to look at reality even if you are not (and will never be) a Buddhist!

The Satanic Bible.
It is the only text that accurately expresses the evidence pointing towards the secular creation of mythology, acknowledges humanity as it really is, and teaches man to control his own fate and be good to each other.
Yes, it says to be good to each other. Concepts like respecting another person's property and his territory, loving with all your heart those things and people you love. It just acknowledges that man is potentially aggressive and tells you to crush the living snot out of someone who tries to crush you first. None of this pacifistic garbage from the NT.

There are soooo many matters below that it is not plausible to educate in basic terms another than the Bible. there are thousands of books on prayer and meditation. if you're searching for a extensive view of the numerous faiths then attempt "The Religions of guy" by technique of Huston Smith. if you're searching for an really good e book especially about Christianity then look up "Mere Christianity" by technique of C. S. Lewis (some thing by technique of C. S. Lewis provides you with with an staggering in-intensity study). if you're searching for a assessment between atheism and Christianity study "The question of God: C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud Debate God, Love, sex, and the which technique of existence" by technique of Armand M. Nicholi Jr.. if you're searching for the way present day present day medical theories fairly help the prospect of God then study "previous the Cosmos" by technique of Hugh Ross.

Osho's Zen a Path to Paradox. It was quite an eye opener for me. He articulated so many things that I already thought, and brought up things I'd never thought about.
It was so good it was almost like reading a good romance! Gripping from the first word on.
