Yes, they are affectionate, yes, they are loyal,but do not underestimate them, they are the strongest dog in the world,pound for pound, nothing comes close,undoubtedly pit bulls are no1dog but if patterdales where the same size they would eat them for breakfast,my dogs father pulled 45times its own bodywieght on the sled,but like someone has already mentioned they are primarily working dogs and unfortunately over the past few years the qaulity of the dog is declining,as for the cat, the first day it pisses the dog off will be the last day of its life,Marvellous dogs in the right hands, train with flirt pole, they love it, cheeky? its not a true patterdale I assure you, enjoy but beware, they ARE the devil in disguise, regards;

Hi I have a Patterdale, I have always had Jack Russell's and
Labs, but they say once you have had a Terrier.. you always a
Terrier person.. I started with terriers because of my stable
yard, (15 boxes and loads of barns for fodder) we also ran
ferrets and that was a battle in itself !! however, my old Lady
Jack Russell died, an I introduced Sadie.. described as a
Lakeland Terrier.. personally, she just wound herself around
my neck, as I was driving home from Clithero Auction Mart
.together with a very stroppy 14.2 gelding..the rest is another story !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Uncle had two patterdales...very loyal affectionate, but also very protective, if they latch onto the focus of their attention its hard to get them to unlatch...Uncle had a farm, and although they are small, and very loving, they sorted out vermin and liked to defend the place...
hence the problems you may have with the lead - you may need a muzzle or halti collar
They believe they rule the world!

my friend has one of these terriers, she is so cute and sounds just like yours, she is full full full of mischief and is so affectionate, her eyes are so lovable, you absolutely melt when she looks at you, she is like a blue roan colour - her only thing of fault if you can call it that, its not really a fault, she tends to run up to other dogs barking, no matter how big they are !! lol
