Well my Husband was diagnosed with lung Cancer 2 yrs ago. had Chemo and radiation. , in April it metastasized to the brain.and had radiation. Did fairly well, but today a blood clot was discovered on his lung. He will be treated with heparin and sent home in a few days but I have been told he has probably just a few more months. We treat every day as a gift.

there is no definitive time-line especially since you don't know what stage cancer he has. once cancer reaches the later stages and metastasizes(spreads) to other parts of the body many people will live a year or less. However, the prognosis(predicted outcome) is much better for cancer that is caught in the early stages. In the early stages, lung cancer can be cured by radiation and/or chemotherapy. It may even be possible to surgically remove any carcinoma. You should encourage your friend to fight the cancer if there is any chance for a cure. To do otherwise would be foolish even given his family history. good luck but I think you need more information.

You would really need to know what stage cancer the person had and also what type of lung cancer, is it non small cell or small cell. Only then can someone give you accurate statistics as to the average life expectancy for this person.

One of the toughest questions in the world. Much depends on the specific type of cancer, the extent of its mass, if it's metastasized, type of treatment, and overall health of the person affected. The most accurate answer will come from her oncologist.

It depends on the stage. Treating cancer in its early stages may be more successful than treating it after the disease has spread.
