Well, the monotheistic religions all claim to be worshiping the only one true God. So it is basically stylistic differences that separate them, not the object of their worship.
But there is a real difference between monotheism and polytheism. Monotheism (one god) requires that all divine attributes be held in the same deity, even when they are somewhat contradictory. Polytheism avoids that problem by postulating several different gods and goddesses. This also neatly avoids the problem of gender which plagues the monotheists. Masculine gender offends some, feminine offends others, and I don't think anyone wants to say "it" about God!

One of the hardest things to follow for us imperfect humans is to willingly think and act with compassion and forgiveness towards the “other”.
The concept appears to us as “not logical”, “impractical” or “unrealistic”. So we find excuses or make “interpretations” or pick more “logical” parts from our holy books to “justify” our actions, and forget about the BASIC TRUTH.
That's why we have fragmented "religions", no matter which one you look at.
And THAT"S why we have all those wars.
Yet compassion and forgiveness has been taught by a number of “religions” including Islam.
Sample:
http://spirituality.indiatimes.com/articleshow/995419914.cms:
There are many verses in the holy Quran and hadith, which emphasise on compassion. For instance, the Prophet said: "O people, be compassionate to others so that you may be granted compassion by God."
That’s why we have Jihad and why we had “holy wars” and why we are still condemning and fighting “the others” (infidels or whatever!). That’s also why we have various fractions of Muslims or Christians or Jews or Buddhists etc., though they ALL teach the wisdom of compassion and forgiveness.
Just imagine! If all humans would willingly (not because they have been told) act out of compassion and forgiveness toward the "others" there truly would be peace on Earth! - No, I'm not perfect either!
"If any show patience and forgive, that truly would be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs." Qur'an: Sura 42:43 (Counsel)
Jesus made it very clear that the 2 first and foremost commandments are:
to love God with ALL our being and above ALL "things", and to love ALL our fellow men & women, even if the may be our enemy. Any laws or "interpretations" deviating from those two are invalid according to Jesus.
I have no doubt that Jesus taught the right way. As I stated above He was not the only one who taught compassion AND forgiveness as rules for life - The straight and narrow Path. But I believe He did it most clearly.
Love is the answer - whatever the question!

You're right when you say "worship God in the right way." We all believe that there is only one way to worship God. Even though we are loving God with all our hearts and souls, others will claim that we are going about it all wrong and that our actions are futile because God will only respond to the "correct" form of worship. Read your holy book and stay away from organized religion.

I don't think people fight over Religion, but merely use it as an excuse for conflict.
The fanatics who reak havoc world-wide in the name of some God or other cannot honestly believe in any God or Allah or whatever their choice may be or they would not cause the death and heart-ache to innocent civilians.
No God or Idol would wish any harm to come to Man-kind.
This is simply an excuse which is used to create terror.

The sad fact is that we don;t worship the same god, even if we call him by the same name. If you were to examine what each religion claims God to ask of its adherents, you would realize that it cannot possibly be the same god throughout.

Seems you need a briefing on religion. No, they do not all worship the same God.

Who is the we you are talking about. Christians don't fight about who, what, or how to worship God. Other are willing to fly aircraft into building and kill thousands in the name of religion. Religion is an evil creation of man. Faith and relationship is what matters... Jim
