You need some professional training help!!! I would never let a dog growl at me!!!! You are going to have trouble!!!
Forget the papers and pads and take the dog OUT every hour in the day and reward the dog when it goes. At night or when you are not home...CRATE IT!!!!

I have been there, done that! Buy the dog a kennel. Make him go into his kennel at night or when you go out. Always keep a close eye on him when you are home to make sure he isn't sneaking off into a corner when you're not looking. It is apparent that the dog doesn't appreciate you trying to correct him and it could get you bitten. You don't want to get yourself in that situation. Use prevention here, instead of challenging a dog that needs to learn you are the boss, not him. Get him fixed too, if you haven't already. Every time he growls at you and you back down from him, that re enforces that he is the king. Don't do that. No more backing down. Just don't give him the chance to pee on the floor.

Anyway Good Luck

well it seems you have more than one problem. good news they can be solved with the same solution at the same time. a doggie grate. 1st off dogs generally go to the bathroom 20 minutes after they have eaten. so after you feed him walk him. but get back to the crate dogs will not pee and poo where they eat and sleep. leave him in the crate at night and when you are not home it teachs him to hold his bladder . the growling concerns me how old is this dog? what breed is he ? where did you get him? this dog growls when you reprimand him not a good thing one day he will bite you !!!!! thats a fact. however there are solutions to that. 1st show him who is boss by a choker collar put it on in the P postion when you reprimand him and he growls pull up on that collar firmly and feel it (dont be afraid dogs smell fear they dont see it) tell him no bad put him in the crate for 20 minutes . then let him out and love him tell him good boy . as like a child you have to dole out equal amounts of praise and discipline. when he is out of the crate and you catch him doing this put two pennies in an empty can tape the top and shake trust me that dog will stop peeing mid stream and run the sound is equal to our version of nails on a chalk board. this is great for any unwanted behavior. clean up the pee or poo with vinegar and water mix it eliminates the oder therefore he will not go in that spot again(helps alot you do not want your house smelling like a shelter when you live there you cant smell it but other people can its not pleasant) no more papers or doggie pads they only encourage the dog to pee and poo inside. get a crate big enough for him to stand in. if this dog continues to growl after you have tried these training aids(behavior modifier for the SPCA) take to obedience school. note: some schools beat these dogs so make sure you get ones that dont . using your hands while training is not the right thing to do . imagine if your mother or father spanked you every time you wet the bed. the dog is learning. positive reenforcements are the better way to go. i know it sounds nuts but some dogs do not even like you to watch them go he may be one of those so also try turning your back when he is going outside. good luck

did he do this in the previous place or is he new to you? The house may smell of dog wee to him, so you now need to deodorise the carpets and floors.
Take him outside every time you see him beginning to prepare - sniffing, circling, restlessness, or as the previous answerer, just every so often, and make loud praising wrods when he does it in the right place
Although its tempting to shout when he does wrong, its better to go for the silent treatment, easy to say, hard to do
Growling needs to be dealt with, but dogs suffer more from being ignored than by being shouted at. Literally, turn your back on him when he displeases you, it will really freak him out

My dog never growls at me because I established myself firmly as his boss. The first thing a dog owner must do with his/her dog is to establish theirself as the boss, the leader. Otherwise you have little hope of having an obedient dog and being able to properly train it.

Take you dog on lease for long walks daily. It is healthy for you and healthy for your dog. Also it is a very good time to establish who is the boss. Never let the dog lead you. You are the leader, so lead.

Good examples on how to establish proper rolls between humans and dogs in on the TV show "The Dog Whisperer".

As for paper training when I had a puppy I put down newspapers all over the room. When he peed or pooped on a paper, I would take that paper over to the corner (leaving just a little poop on it for smell). Soon his started doing his business over in the corner where he smelled that he had peed/pooped there before. Little by little I was able to cover a smaller and smaller area with newspaper, until I had a very small area reserved for my dog. By then he knew where he was supposed to go by habit.

Stop and think about it,,, how will pads or paper teach the dog to go anywhere besides in the house. Do a search on "crate training" you will find it a far better alternative.
