If people don't belive in Jesus, but they belive in a higher power and they live their life in the best way they possible can, (they save lives because they are a doctor or nurse, they are the teacher that doesn't give up on their students, their a social worker). Why according to Christians are these people going to hell just because of there belives. Especially if their god is such a forgiving god?

Religions are like governments; the end result is to control. The best way to control is through fear and retribution. Manmade gov'ts for the most part are designed to keep people behaved or there will be a price (hell to pay?). Religions under the guise of so-called "men of God" use hell, or a place of eternal torment (hell to pay?) to keep the masses fearful and superstitious which make the masses easier to control. Gov'ts want a tax, religions want a tithe. Break a gov'ts rules you get fined or jailed, break a religions rules and you go to hell. Not one single religion is right just as not one single gov't is right but there are some that are better than others. You don't need a religion or a gov't to learn to behave, that comes from your own heart and it takes practice.

The question is not whether they believe in Jesus or not, it is whether or not they chose not to believe. And it is a choice.
For those who never heard the Gospel, the judging will be on how they lived by the light they were given--most basically, by their conscience, though there are other 'lights' to be considered as well.
Why sweat it? You aren't going to be doing the judging, and you should know that I Am is both a fair and a merciful God, no matter how his followers err in their misunderstandings or their pride.
As John 3:16 said, 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believed in Him, should not die, but should have life everlasting.' The reality is, we'll all live forever, just some of us will be less comfortable than the others.
So the answer is, though there is only one 'True Religion,' it is not the only right one, funcitonally speaking. The thing is that if you have heard the 'right' one and chose to turn aside from it, you're pretty much toast.
How do we know it's the right one? It's the one everybody else is taking potshots at.

First off not all Christians think that denial of Jesus means everlasting hell. There have been put forward ideas and concepts where salvation is possible via other means.

Next as far as belief goes we all believe in something and hold that to be the truth. In this age of feelings and respect it can sometimes make a person with convictions an outcast. But Christians, Muslims, Atheists have a right to their beliefs and they obviously are free to think as they wish.

How are you going to make it to heaven without Jesus? Lots of GOOD people are not going to make it...This may surprise you but being good....will NOT get you into heaven.....and Lots of bad people will get int heaven...why? because WE ALL SIN...there is no one sin greater than another all sin is equal in Gods eyes. ...no matter if it is a lie, or murder all sin is equal.Christ said that none could get to the father except thru him....this meansthat you must believe totally that Christ died for all of your sins,he paid the price, for what we cannot do, he redeemed us with his life.....all you have to do is believe, that you are forgivien, that he died on the cross for you, that he died, was buried in the tomb, and on the third day he assended into heaven, victorious over death hell and the grave.....now wait...this means he is alive..right?and by beliving and having faith, I too shall have life everlasting....Nothing you can do will get you into heaven....it is faith based....Faith means to belive in something you have never seen.Faith means to not have any doubt.People have a hard time understanding God, and often enough we make it harder than it really is. And something else to think about ....Judgement Day you will be judged not on what you have done wrong but, what you have done for Christ......best too you

People don't go to hell because of beliefs that are different or wrong. People go to hell because they have sinned.

While other religions point out the problem, Jesus offers us a way out of sin, because He died as an atonement to take our punishment, so that nobody need go to hell. Only those who refuse the offer of pardon remain in their sin and guilt.

Being "good" just isn't good enough. It's like saying "Even though I ran a hundred red lights, it's ok, because I waved at the police man." Being "good" doesn't remove our guilt. Only Jesus can do that.

our HEAVENLYFATHER honors the righteous regardless of their religion.

not all christians know the BIBLE with understanding. some will believe almost anything some supposed pastor says, and, believe me, some say the most terrible things that are not true. LOOK, did the preacher have his hand out for money? watch him!

judgment begins at the house of GOD! satan works from the pulpits and knows all scriptures, but twists them to suit his own deception.

Well, the Bible says the only way to heaven is thru Him. Meaning the only way you get to heaven is if accept Jesus Christ, and believe on his name. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave His only begtton son, that whosoever believeth on him shall have evlasting life. You don't get in to heaven because you give to charrity, or to the homeless. YOu get in thru Jesus Christ.

lol i keep askign that too. think about it, they preach about a loving, merciful and forigiving god, yet we get tortured for all eternity because we dont call ourselves christian and believe in a book written by man. (regardless to whether we believe in God or not we are still condemned?) are we giong to go to hell because we dont label ourselves as them and disregard the bible, but murderers and rapists go to heaven (those who have converted) because they DO call themseleves christian? (does this sound like JUSTICE to anyone? remember god is "just" according to the bible as well)

Not one religion is right....... particularly if you get to know some of the other beleifs.... you will find there is a common thread to all of them.....

however the believers of that religion beleive they are right.....

and so it goes on... hence so many wars have occured because of religion and their individual beleifs....
