I don't know, don't have any way of knowing and I don't really care. However we came to be, we are here now, and I think we should be much more concerned and thoughtful about the how we are going to be in the future, rather than assuming and squabbling over our origin. I really don't understand why so many people seem to need an answer to this question and are willing to resort to irrationality to get it. I just accept that some things are beyond knowing and I'm okay with that.

Look up origins of the universe somewhere and read about the formation of the universe, or watch Tuesday nights on the Science Channel, lots of good shows about this stuff.

I think your first answer was the best, but what if we're just one big petri-dish for an advanced race of aliens? We could be offspring from andother galaxy entirely! An Alien God......hmm. (Let it be known, I coined that phrase first!)
