After 7 hours of Elmo's laughing and then this little song, playing over and over and over, I'm loosing my mind. I took the sound things out of stuff when my own daughter was young, don't think I should do that to someone else's toys, but they put the playpen in my office, (NOT HER OWN YOU NOTICE) because she couldn't get any work done......now neither can I ???? Help before Elmo pushes me over the edge.

I like the clear tape idea...but I need to do something no one else can tell I've done....if I just put tape on the outside it would be my luck the little chap would pull it off, eat it, choke, and I'd feel responsible.

And your right, this is a crappy job, but it pays well, and I'm a single mom....all that matters is providing for my own daughter.

No amount of decreasing the volume is going to save your sanity in this situation. I'd tell your boss that you are not getting any work done with the child in your office. She needs to find someone else to baby sit the kid. Besides, spending 7 hours in a playpen is not health for kids.

You can put a strip of tape over the holes of the speaker box (usually where you put in the batteries) if it's accessable on the toy. That will muffle the sound quite a bit.
Talk to your boss though. Really you shouldn't have to have the child in your office. It's very unprofessional of your boss to have done that unless 'childcare' is in your job description.Or if she's unreasonable and does nothing about it, you can just not get any work done, and when the boss complains, let her know that it's her own fault for putting the baby in there! Good luck!

Weeeeeeeeeeeell....
You have 2 choices...ok 3 if ya wanna tell ya boss off...lol
Take the Batteries out (which would probably irk the child and you wouldnt get anything done) or take the sound thingie out of the zipped compartment, tape over the speakerholes and put the unit back in & zip it up....MAKE SURE THE CHILD CANNOT get into that speaker compartment.
Or....you can tell ya boss to either keep her granbaby in her own office or put the child in daycare....(sounds mean...but hey, if ya boss wants anything done that's how it's gotta be heeheehee)

Put clear tape over the speakers. Several layers. This worked in my home office. I wouldn't put these toys in the crib with baby, as they may pick at the tape if left alone for a long time it. My girl never did, but it doesn't hurt to be safe. This works! I promise!

What's a baby doing in a playpen for 7 hours?? I don't know about this baby but mine always through the toys over the side constantly - so don't put them back in.

Well maybe the honest and mature thing to do...would be to say something!!! Hello? Is babysitting part of your job? No..then tell your boss...you think the kid is great and all that...but the noisy toys have got to go...You can't do your job efficiently with such distractions...and you feel really bad about having to say anything but your boss obviously is aware of the problem as she couldn't get any work done with the noise either.

ok,bad batteries will only make elmo sound demonic! LOL!

If you can get to his speakerbox (by opening up where the battery goes) you can put a piece of tape over the actual speaker. It will muffle the sound without muting it completely. Good luck!!

And what is stopping you from asking your boss if Elmo couldn't be silenced? Tell the boss WHY...because it is distracting you from YOUR work. It is YOUR job and whether you like it or not it is YOUR responsibility to take care of it. Speak up.

Cover the plastic speaker box with clear tape. :) Always works for me. They still make noise, just not as loud. Then the child and you both can be happy. Oh yeah and the boss is happy because they don't know any better

I wonder what would happen if the baby accidentally threw Elmo out of the playpen and he accidentally got kicked underneath it...
