Pakistan is one of the most beautiful countries with some of the friendliest people I have ever encountered. The cities are ofcourse a hive of activity, the volume and intesity of humanity may seem unfamilar even intimidating if you are from Europe or America. It also is unlikely that you will be able to avoid seeing the the extremes of rich and poor. But just absorb it, enjoy it and you will have great time. I do however remember there are some very well kept parks in all of the cities I visited if you do need a break.
The place I personally enjoyed the best was The Hunza Valley. We took Air Pakistan flight from Islamabad to Gilgit, not only was I asked into the cockpit of the plane but given a few seconds at the control. You fly below the hieght of the mountains so it felt like you were almost scraping the wings on the mountains.
From there we travelled a few hours up the Karokoram highway. The hire of the tent for the family I think was about $1 a night or something, very little. It was wonderful we had open views of the valley of one of the most beautiful and lucious valleys below and K2 as a back drop. We decided to stay longer than we had money for, so somehow our predicement filtered back to the local chief, who turned up with enough rupees to last another week. He gave us his bank account and said whenever we had it we could pay in his money "when ever we had it again".. .. I ask when did a stranger last offer to loan you money without interest and no definate repayment plan?
There are probably a few places at the moment to avoid along the Afgan border for obvious reasons, but take advise when you are in Pakistan and not from the people whos world view is only from Fox News. Have a great trip!

Hi Rufi bhai.
well, in case ur going to Lahore, check out Sozo Water park, Badshahi mosque, the various food streets, Mughal architecture etc. In case u r art-oriented, there would be something on offer at the Alhamra hall as well.
Other than that, the northern areas(namely Hunza, Swat, Dir, Kaghan and Naraan) are absolutely awesome if u r looking for marvels of nature(mountains, valleys, warm ppl, lush green foliage)
Taxila is a nice place to get a glimpse of the ancient Buddhist culture(Gandhara civilization).
It all basically depends on what u r looking for. Karachi's nice too, if u want some conventional entertainment(malls, eateries etc.)
Welcome to Pakistan in advance, and dont worry, any qualms that u may have about Pakistan will disappear the moment u step out of the airport.

The airport out of there is the best place to go.
Make good use of it as well.
When they shake your hand, check to see if you have all your fingers still, as well as the watch and jewellery!!
