In 1986, the magazine Sceptic summarized studies on religiosity and intelligence[1]:
All but four of the forty-three polls listed support the conclusion that native intelligence varies inversely with degree of religious faith; i.e., that, other factors being equal, the more intelligent a person is, the less religious he/she is.

It should be no different than the general population.
As the size of a group increases, the group's average should approach the global average - not the other way around. The extremes will come in small samples not large samples.

You'd lose that bet. Average IQ refers to the largest group of any population per se. This in itself limits the amount of lower IQ people that could be added to any group already attracting that segment of society.

having grown up in pentacostal churches, i'm afraid that in comparison to their numbers, they would rate the lowest IQ's per capita of any christian sect. however, that does not mean all christians are idiots. i am still a believer, despite my intellectually challenged childhood environment, because unlike so many of his "full gospel" contemporaries, my father - a minister -could and actually did practise the fine art of exegesis in regards to scripture. he passed this happy habit on to me, and i have endeavored to continue the tradition ever since.
exegesis, for those who have not been subjected to seminary, is a greek word meaning, "to take out from"; isegesis is the greek word for "to put/read into. my father did the former, while most of his pentcostal contemporaries insisted on doing the latter.
nothing personal to those pentacostals out there - i know there are exceptions, but if you disagree, then prove it. i've seen a lot of meanness and stupidity - not to mention some downright evil behavior take place because of crappy interpretations of the bible by well-meaning ham-handed self-proclaimed "prophets".
of course, let's be fair...every religion has its share of unwashed, illiterate, reactionary imbeciles - be they buddhist, shinto, pagan, muslim or druid. (ok, never met a druid). stupidity is an equal opportunity disorder.
BTW; lumping any group of people together and ladling blame and scorn upon them as a collective smacks of an unhealthy exclusivity. the jews were the subject of similiar disparaging questions and derogatory statements - just prior to WW2. be wary of trying to either lionize or demonize any one group of human beings. while i harbor a certain dislike for some pentacostal philosophy, i've met plenty of christians who are first rate intellects. if you are going to dis christians in general, and the christian faith by proxy, i dare you first to read up a little. try c.s. lewis' Mere Christianity, or if you really want to prove your intelligence, try wading through francis schaffer's trilogy: The God Who Is There, Escape From Reason, He Is There and He Is Not Silent.
then you can at least speak with a little credibility. until then, stop trying to show off.

Catholics worship Mary because of the fact the queen of heaven. they think in the trinity, saints, transubstantiation, to call some. All different Christians are Protestant. we've protested the training of the Catholic church. some sects hung directly to the countless teachings, at the same time as others did no longer. the main distinction is how we interpret Christ. Catholics have faith that Jesus is the Son of God, and he's together with his father in heaven. in addition they have faith that there are 3 contributors of a godhead, the daddy, the son , and the holy spirit. in addition they have faith that Mary remained a married virgin after she had Jesus. different Christians have faith that God is God Almighty. God's be conscious is God, and God's Holy Spirit is God too. basically as we are us, our be conscious, and our spirit. uncertain bearing directly to the Mormons, have not finished my study of them, yet i be attentive to the adult males used to have many better halves, don't be attentive to in the event that they nevertheless prepare polygamy. Jehovah's witnesses, have faith that purely a definite volume of human beings are going to heaven: a hundred and forty four,000. they don't have faith in blood transfusions. they do no longer study from the KJV, purely watchtower classes, and the recent worldwide translation bible. i be attentive to of Greek orthadox, no longer as familiar with their ethos. those are the countless significant ones. some off shoots of them are many times refered to as cults. yet all of them declare to be Christians. We needless to say won't have the ability to all be maximum suitable.

Averages are meaningless without standard deviations.
And IQ tests don't measure a lot of things, particularly common sense.
I'm sorry, what was the point of your question?

I think you'll be found sorely mistaken. 90% of my church is college educated. A large number of the congregation teaches in public schools.
How does it feel to think so highly of yourself? I'm not sure how people come to the conclusion that they're better than everyone else. Could you explain it to us all?
