First, don't give her food all the time. Feed her 3 meals a day and 1 snack unless you eat mini-meals in your house. Next, don't let that bother you so much. As babies, my eldest was a string bean and my younger 2 were chubby chipmunks. Now at 8, 6, 4 they are all skinny and average in height and weight. My son was pretty chunky until he was two. But then, my sister was that was when she was little. So look more to your family history and less at those goofy growth charts. You know what is normal in your family. If you don't, start asking them women in your and the father's families about sizes of babies, toddlers, childhood, and current. It will give you a much better idea than any chart. They say that if you look at your girlfriend's mother, you'll see what she'll look like at that age. I think family diet and eating habits are alot more important than what any chart can tell you on waist size.

I think more important question is, has she always been 75% for height and 3 for weight? If so, you have nothing to worry about. She's just being the skinny type. If she suddenly stops gaining weigh steadily, then you might want to ask if she changes her eating habit, or is there other things that might be affecting her gaining weight properly.
I have a friend whose son is about 10% weight but his height is off chart. He's now 11 and turn out to be a healthy-tall-skinny boy. His little sister is on the same path, too.

The important thing is that she doesn't loose weight. If it is consistant then it is just how she is. My daughter is 4 1/2 years old and only weighs 33 lbs but very tall. The books show that she should be in the 40's. Where her 2 year old sister weighs 24 lbs (where the books say that she should be). My husband is also tall and skinny just like my daughter. I think that you should focus on learning where to shop because tall and skinny isn't easy to find. The gap and carters make adjustable pants for the tall and skinny. My four year old is a 5 year old length, but a 3 year old waiste. Oh- and get use to her running around holding her pants up because they keep falling down. :)

I used to have the same concern. My daughter is on the low end for weight and never eats the amounts the book says. My doctor says those books or ONLY a guideline. I was always worried, and finally gave up. She is healthy and happy as I am sure your daughter is. As my doctor said, spend more time loving and less time worrying and everyone will be more happy! Good Luck though, and I am sure all is well!

My daughter was the same size, she is still small at 2.5 years, so is her brother, so was I, so was my sister, my mother, etc, etc. Some children are just smaller, they all grow differently and their growth at this age may have nothing to do with how they grow later on. If you are concerned about her eating habits see a dietitian or nutritionist, they can help you with what and how much your daughter should be eating. Believe me, it is probably a lot less than you think! I found most books were inaccurate or didn't explain portion sizes properly.

My son weighed 18lbs. when he turned a year. The doctors had to put him on Pedisure at 8 mos. to get him from 13 lbs up to 18lbs. I took him off of Pedisure at a year. At two he weighed 19 lbs. He's 3 now and weighs 27lbs. She will gain weight eventually gain weight. My son definately ate. If you are concerned talk to her doctor, they can run test to see if she is low on iron. They did this on my son when he was 8 months. Good luck

My son is 3 years old and BARELY over 30 lbs. He is so skinny you can see his ribs when he stretches. I am what I call "cubbier" but my husband and his sister and his father all have a MAD metabolism, it can be hereditary. I let my son eat whenever he wants to, his doctor isn't concerned at all but BOY was my family when he was younger! I was just informed today that the baby I am carrying is estimated at 10lbs 8oz. My son didn't weigh that at a month old! OBVIOUSLY this one I am carrying got my metabolism.......HA HA!
ANY HOW....... IF your doc isn't worried don't you worry either!

I hope that your concern is real and not just that you are in a very weird strange way trying to brag that your daughter is on the thin side. My god, she's a baby! If your doctor isn't concerned, and you trust him and his judgment, leave it be. Let her eat what she chooses from what you offer her and maybe if you don't seem so concerned and overwhelmed about it, she won't.
On the other hand if your concern is real I can't believe you would be on here asking for medical advice. FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR and get another opinion, this is your child you're talking about.

My daughter has been in the 95th percentile for height and less than 5 for weight. It is so frustrating to try and buy pants for her. :) She will be 4 in December and needs 4T for her length but a 2T for her waist. I am loving GAP jeans since they have the adjustable weight.

I wouldn't worry about it. My son is a little on the light side. Just as long as they stay consitant on the growth chart over time, she's fine. If you really want to do something make sure she gets a vitamin daily. As long as you offer good foods, she'll eat when she's hungry.
