New neighbors just moved in and they have two medium sized dogs who like to wine and bark at everying. My dog barks and howls, rarely. Would it be rude of me to yell SHUT UP, if they are not home? It's just that my daughter takes naps in the afternoon and so far they have woke her up and woke us early this morning with barking. I don't plan to hurt the dogs, so please don't suggest that. Any tactful way of dealing with this problem?

.Yelling at the dogs is not likely to solve the problem and make them shut up. The dogs are probably just lonely and scared because of the move and their new surroundings. They may not be used to staying outside or home alone all day. Yelling at them is going to give them what they want, a response from a human, the "caretakers". Your best bet is to just ignore them, maybe turn some music on in your daughters room to drown out the sound of howling mutts. If it does continue to be a problem, maybe you could speak with your neighbors and let them know whats going on and ask them to please do something about it. Something as simple as when they leave in the mornings, give the dogs a chew toy, this will keep them busy all day and they wont have time to howl. Do not throw them treats over the fence after they are already howling and barking, as this will only reinforce the bad behavior. Hope this helps!

You can buy an Ultrasonic bark stop on line and that helps a little. However I had to have it out with my neighbors who bought a German Shepard and leave it in the back yard 14 hours a day. After talking to them, they now keep the animal inside. Also you can call Animal Services, if they think the dog is being mistreated they will go nuts.

Get a dog whistle. It'll drive them nuts. Call the law. Most places have ordinaces against this type of stuff. After a few tickets the owners may decide that they need to put them in the house or garage when they're not home. You could try talking with the nieghbors first though, they may not be aware that there is a problem.

I don't see how your yelling will not disturb your daughter...

I would think that after some time your daughter would get used to the noise just as she got used to traffic and other sounds that happen.

As far as if it will be rude to yell at the dogs. Normally we only assign 'rude' to things involving other people. I doubt the dogs feelings will be hurt or that they will tell the owners when they return.

i might talk including your neighbor and how they opt to deal with this. Are they taking the canines to the vet? Are they actually disenchanted that your "great propose pit bull" tried to consume their little infant? Or are they asserting "canines try this"? i might grant to on the least chop up the vet bill if it is the direction the neighbor needs to take -- in the event that they are fairly disenchanted, pay the whole undertaking. do no longer contain your sources proprietor's coverage in this undertaking -- they are going to insist which you do away with your canines. Then i might take measures to make certain that this does not take place returned, like according to possibility a privateness fence or a 2nd fenceline interior your backyard so as that they might't easily get to a minimum of one yet another returned. sturdy luck.

I would nicely talk to the neighbors and explain to them the problem and I would also get a dog whistle. Hopefully the dogs owners will be respectful and take care of the problem.. good luck

Have you mentioned to the neighbors that the dogs bother you?

If this has not helped, call Animal Control, or the police and let them handle it.

Talk to your neighbor. If that doesn't do it, call the local authorities. There probably is an ordinance about noise pollution.
