Sky called me up last Friday advising that I could upgrade to Sky World (films and sports) for an additional £2 per month for next 3 months. I currently pay £21 p/m. I confirmed 3 times to her that I will be paying £23 p/m and she confirmed. I though it was a good deal so I took them up on the offer. Today (Friday) I recd my direct debit confirmation, with the new amount of £32.25 and not £23 as confirmed over the phone. I rang them up at their call centre, who advised me the £32 is correct, and they can only cancel my package. I asked if their calls were recorded, she said that calls from customers to them were but as the person who call me was from an outsourced centre they werent. I asked her to speak to this outsourced centre and she said she couldnt as they have no contact with them. Surely this is a stupid way to run a business with no communication between outgoing calls to customers and the call centre. Have I got any rights as to recieving the product at the price confirmed?

You'll get the most reliable advice by contacting Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 - it's supported by the Office of Fair Trading.
According to their website, the opening hours are:
8.00am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday
9.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday
Closed on bank holidays and public holidays.
(And if you go to http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/about.shtml and scroll down a bit, there's a list of landline numbers to get you through to the call centre in your region, if you don't want to call the 0845 number)

You should have the 14 day cooling down period angle whereby you can revert back due to the service simply not adequatley meeting your needs ~Sounds like you spoke to a foreigner as 23 and 32 got mixed up - maybe she was from a country where they read backwards. Just threaten politely that you are going to pack it all in (at a higher level) and you should be okay but you won't get it at that price unless it is genuinly at that price, despite what she said.

I think that firstly they are talking rubbish about the recording of calls. Recording of calls in a service such as this is standard practice. In my experience, call centres will lie if it suits their purpose. One time, i had had some correspondance from the bank, but when i called to discuss it with them, they flatly denied they had written to me, even though i had a letter with my name and account details on.
Unfortunately, unless you can prove you had the conversation, there is nothing you can do.

that's bollox i work in a call centre and there is inbound and outbound calls and calls are recorded regardless of weather it was incoming or outgoing, the best bet would be to speak to the complaints department at sky usually a different department to within the call centre and they should be Able investigate that for you, also if that don't work just threaten to withdraw your custom that usually has them talking a different tone to you

it is a mistake, but learnign curve as well next time anyone tries to give you an offer too good to be true, ask them to send it by post.
they are talking rubbish you can change your subscription once in one month every month. read the small print of your contract with sky
the only reason SKY are getting away with rubbish service and hiked prices is because there is no competition.

Unfortunately no unless you have the call recorded and that might not go real far either. Hind sight is always 20/20 but I have to tell ya I don't give my credit card information out over the phone ever unless i initiate the call. Every-time a solicitor contacts me I tell them to post it to me and i will take a look at it at my convenience and let them know and to not call back and to take me off their call list. telemarketers are a scam as far as i am concerned and if they lie then you are stuck holding the bag and it is your credit not theirs that might suffer.

Cancel the subscription and go with someone else, unfourtunately, unless you can get credited back from the place that told you the incorrect information, you are probably just screwed. I agree, it is a bad way to run a business.
