The Murano is an established Nissan product. The CX-7 is a lot sportier than the Murano, but I don't consider the CX-7 to be a SUV.

First off the person who responded with the "5 or 6 reasons" why Mazda is better than Nissan needs to look again at what they wrote. Here's what they wrote:

1. Nissan has subpar reliability and quality ratings, and Mazda has been better than average.(Nissan cars have subpar ratings, not their SUV and TRUCK lines).
2. Mazda's are known to be sporty(This is personaly opinion and should pretty much be stricken from the record).
3. The Murano is ugly(Same as above statement).
4. The turbo engine in the Mazda will get better gas mileage in real world driving conditions(The CX-7 is rated at 19-24, while the Murano is 20-25, minimal difference, plus the CX-7's turbo is the same compression as that in the mazda speed protege's which have a tendency to crack the block head).
5. Mazda is mostly owned by Ford, unlike the Nissan, most of the money you spend will stay in America. (If research were done here then you would know that the Mazda is assembled in Mexico using parts manufactured in Venezuela. Plus, saying that an automobile uses american made parts is not such a plus anymore. Do you really want a ford or GM vehicle when both companies are prepaqred to go bankrupt or privatize? Nissan is made by Infiniti Motors which year after year are top sells in quality and dependability. Plus they are made in America.)

Out of those two I'd rather have the Mazda CX-7. It is a bit more sportier to me. But I think that Saturn VUE is a better deal then both of those. The V6 version that comes with a Honda Engine and transmission(its actually the same thing as a Honda Pilot but cheaper), its cheaper then both the Nissan and Mazda and gets about 4-5 mpg better in both city and highway driving.

I would go for the cx-7 unless your very tall which i'm not. the rear view is lost when reversing out of the drive way and the front always gets scraped when parking at the mall for some reason my sis has one and can't wait to have her cx-7 delivered in trade for the murano.

We rented the Murano last year when we drove from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio. It was one of the smoothest rides I've ever been in. My son is 6'4" and he sat in the back comfortably. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. 4 thumbs up! Hope this helps.
