I would think it depends on the person, how emotionally unstable they are, if they're experiencing physical symptoms, what is the cause of the breakdown, etc. They may be able to take a leave of absence, or if it's severe and long-term they may be able to get Social Security Disability.

You can do anything that you set your mind to. The docs tell some people that they will never walk again. Sometimes after years they walk. This is similiar to losing your mind, losing control. It takes time and you can recover. Dont listen to anybody but yourself and those that encourage you. Some people take 5 years to recover some take a decade some recover in 20 years. It all depends on your circumstance and your support.

So yes you can return to work. You also need to keep in mind that the led up to the nervous breakdown. Dont repeat the same psychological pressures and in my opinion youll be fine.

Who knows you the best. Only you know yourself the best. You know what emotions you are feeling. So try remember what the warning signs where and avoid them at all possible.

There is also cognitive behavior therapy, this has helped some people.

I could go on and on, but i hope you get the point.

This depends! Is it at work that you had your nervous break down? If so, then I would suggest you not work for awhile. Is it public surroundings that cause your nervous breakdown? If so, then I suggest you not work for awhile. Or is it at home that you have your nervous breakdown? Is work your only way to get away from stress? If so, then work keep your free time! Maybe after work or before work stay away for an extra hour or two. Make everyone else think you are working longer than you are!!

It would depend upon the causes of the nervous breakdown. Problems concerning eating problems, stress, anxiety, money problems, friends, school, children, family confrontations at work....or ALL IN ONE can cause serious mental and physical health problems. Stressful jobs are not usually a good start back for someone with this problem. If possible, it would be a better for the person to analyze their root problem-s and how to better deal with them so that they won't relapse. There are also state programs that will help with finding jobs for someone in this situation. I hope this helps.

No, a person cannot work while recovering from a nervous breakdown. It is the mind's way of forcing the person to take a "break" and get some "down" time.

Yes. I person who has suffered a nervous breakdown may continue to be a production member of society and work at any work in which they are skilled, credentialled, or qualified to work. They are protected from discriminatory acts by way of a Title VII law that prohibits discrimination toward those with disabilities.

Unless there are other physical reasons limiting or preventing them from doing specific work tasks, there is no reason that they are unable to work if they are diagnosed and treated (and following their physician's advise). Most people who are prescribed medications due to psychological disorders are slightly rigid in movement...often the medication does affect their ability to respond. Some employers are reluctant to hire people due to their slowed response time; however, state department's of rehabilitation may be able to find training, education funding, and/or more suitable work for the individual involved.

If work conditions contributed to the nervous breakdown, they may be able to seek damages from their employer...contact an attorney if you feel that their rights may have been violated.

I've been unemployed for 17 months, 5.5 months and currently for 10.5 months due to nervous breakdowns stemming from bipolar disorder.

I don't know if I ever want to work again. I was suspended from Best Buy for deciding that it was better to attend a meeting that I wasn't invited to. Now that I'm on disability, my financial stress is under control but I find myself dependent on others. As long as I remain out of hospitals and jails, I just take life day by day.

Depends on if they are still feeling the effects of the breakdown. Eventually their breakdown usually subsides and those people can live normal lives and work at normal jobs.

But in some instances, they become permanently disabled and receive checks from the state each month to pay their bills and live.
