I was watching the history channel and they were mentioning how Pork Chop Hill has been re-named in honor of all of the US troops in Vietnam who pined over the luscious Bea Arthur. What do people think of this?

Though we did "Pine" for her as you put it, I have not heard they had actually changed the name to "Bea Arthur Hill". That does not mean they did not do that, I am just not aware of any name change. It was the sight of one of the bloodiest battles during the war in Vietnam, so regardless of what they are calling it now, It does not take-away from that fact. Bea Arthur was "All That And a Cheese-Burger" to us guy's who served there. She was quite a dish! Great-Gams (legs) Also! You certainly brought back some fond memories for me with your question. Though any war is hell-on-earth, And the moments few-and-far between,, There were some really good-times shared with the other troop's there with me. Bea Arthur was definitely one of the most talked about subjects, As well as Marylin Monroe, And a few other actresses of the era. I would think that if they did in fact rename that Hill, It would be an Honor for Bea Arthur, and a well deserved one at that! She helped allot of troops there who were homesick and missing their loved-ones. Thanks for the memories man. God Bless America, And Our Troops! 1st. Sgt., 7th Special Forces, (Ret.) If it did happen it is a crime. But I don't remember anyone pining after Bea Arthur, She isn't what kept it up for anyone.

Having an uncle who was there, I have to wonder what he thinks. Knowing him, he's probably thinking it really doesn't matter.
