Plenty of monologues you can cobble together in Shakespeare. Do one of the lesser known plays...Henry VIII has a good one, as do the Henry VI plays. I believe Troilus and Cressida and Antony and Cleopatra are also good places to look. For something a bit later, try one from She Stoops to Conquer. Pygmalion might not be a bad choice. You could be creative and make a monologue from a chick book like Bridget Jones' Diary....that way you can guarantee it'll be original. Good luck!

I would also say Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet offers a great soliloquy of the balcony scene, but it's so overdone.

My suggestion? Use Bridget Jones Diary. Many of her lines are monologues because she's talking to the audience. It's a perfect blend of acting, humor, and British accent, and is just quirky enough to get you noticed.

Try something from Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. Lady Bracknell has some fabulous rants in the second and third acts, as I recall.

You could do one from My Fair Lady, the lead gets really emotional at some points.

I hope I helped, let me know how you do!
