You for sure don't wanna count on the alarms that comes on new cars. I have a code alarm on my envoy and i have remote start and all. its pretty nice because it has a remote that that has a picture of a car on it and it tells you if your alarm goes off and what entry point if being messed with. so its basically like a pager as well. works awesome for cars that are parked like at apartments or where you park is away from your house. I also recommend the Viper alarms. I would say if you bought any alarm you need to get the newest feature which is the remote that tells you whats go in on with your car. hope that helps.

Make sure you have good insurance to cover the loss of your car and don't loose sleep over it. Most dirt bag losers who will try to steal from you will know enough about alarms to get around them.

If your car is fairly new, it's a safe bet that the manufacturer of your car has a good system available right at the dealership. That would be my choice.
