Yes and no. I would like to think that in a hundred years time my body will be left in peace where it lies. However, if there was something to learn that could shed some light on a modern problem, I'd like to help I guess. What can we learn from the ancient tombs that is worth the moral dilemma as to whether it is grave robbing and sacrilege?

Probably, but we burn bodies (cremate them) so perhaps our values are a little twisted at the best of times.

I love learning all about the ancient Egyptians for example and the Valley of the Kings has so much to teach us. Of course that is because I am selfish and always want to know more.

I want to reach out and be able to touch their world.

So..... maybe it isn't sacrilegious, just very childish.....

Someone has blamed it all on the Brits! Not fair. The French Germans and the Italians were at it before us. It was Napoleon's troops who are supposed to have shot off the nose of the Sphinx.

No.
If the findings and relics were stolen, then it would be grave robbing.

In archeology, the discoveries are usually the property of the state, and is used in research, kept in museums for the public, etc, etc.

I am sure a cemetery by law can be dug up or the land reused 100 years after the last known relatives of the last person buried have died.
wasn't that how they got to build house on a cemetery in poltergeist.

No, the ancient people deserve what they get. They can't have been that intelligent a peoples or else the race wouldn't have died out now, would they?

No. Once no-one is around that cares, it's no longer grave robbing. Nor is it sacrilege if there is no-one who says it is.
