It is seasonal in our area...here is a good recipe that is pretty close to the real thing, plus totally safe because no egg!

Eggless Eggnog

Original recipe yield: 8 - 6 fl. ounce servings.
Prep Time:5 Minutes Ready In:5 Minutes Servings:8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INGREDIENTS:
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant French vanilla pudding
1 1/2 quarts milk
2 1/2 teaspoons rum flavored extract

For the most part it's seasonal. Sometimes you can find canned egg nog in the stores, but it just doesn't taste the same to me.

It's defintely more prevalent during the winter months, but I can usually find a can anytime of the year. Bordon's makes an extremely tasty egg nog that is sealed in a can, so it will keep virtually forvever. I try to keep some onhand for making french toast with, and some for drinking of course!

Egg nog can be bought year round. Probably would find it at a larger grocery store or liquor mart.

In my area, you can only get it during the season, but I have found than you can order offline.

Here's a delicious recipe if you ever wanted to make your own home made version:

Prep Time: 5 min
Total Time: 5 min
Makes: 8 (1 cup each)

7 cups fat free milk, divided
1 pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Fat Free Sugar Free Instant Reduced Calorie Pudding & Pie Filling
1 cup low-fat evaporated milk
2 tsp. rum extract

POUR 2 cups of the milk into large bowl. Add pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 minutes. Add remaining 5 cups milk, evaporated milk and extract; mix well.
REFRIGERATE until ready to serve.

I don't think its year round (at least not in Sacramento). I love Silk Egg Nog and I wish it was year round.

In the city I live in it is carried year round and can be found next to the milk with the quarts and 1/2 gallons of chocolate milk.
