I would use the term "myth" rather than fairy tale. Every culture/religion/tribe has a creation myth. It's actually amazing how similar many of them are. They all attempt to explain the same natural phenomena that people have always wondered about. (Why is childbirth so painful, etc.)
The Christian "origin of humanity" legend or myth is a compilation of many others, including that of Mithraism, which also involved a "son of god" figure. You might find it really interesting if you looked it up!

It is one of the many creation myths that we have as human beings. All cultures and societies had them. If you do a little studying on the matter, you will discover that this myth is similar to a lot of others.
Personally, I enjoy the polytheistic creation myths far better because it acknowledges the necessity for both sexes; male and female. MUCH more fulfilling!

No - it was a way for early mankind to explain something that was completely beyond their level of comprehension. Can you imagine going back in time and trying to explain the concept of a singularity or atomic radiation to those people? That the stars are suns like our own? That there are countless planets (let alone the concept of a planet) and that getting to them would require travel at close to the speed of light (and light, and the speed of light, etc.) if you wanted to get to them within a lifetime?

No fairy tales are meant to entertain children, this is a fable myth meant to hoodwink unthinking adults

No but they were a pretty good band back in the 80's. Love that Phil Collins! No really I think if you believe the bible you should either believe it all or believe none of it.

It's a creation myth, like many others in many other places, and borrowing a fair bit from Babylonian and Persian mythos.
