Whenever the follower has a serious question or doubt that can't be logically explained, they all seem to have catch alls like "God's wisdom is not our wisdom" "You *JUST* have to have faith" Etc.. Why can't a perfect *GOD* just have his religion be readily proved? Why the silly games? WOuld anyone buy a house or a car based on Faith alone, suspending rational thought alltogether?

I think you're missing the point of Faith

1. Faith does not require proof or rational ideas and thoughts.

Also, one needs to bear in mind that many of the holy books were written at a time when critical thought was not encouraged or undertaken. Technology was not as advanced and civilizations had to find other explanations for the unknown. Religion fit the bill perfectly.

Look att he advancements made in space, science, and medicine in the last 100 years that have caused many to question the scriptures.

Even in less developed countries today in which people are much more ignorant and less educated (i.e. Muslim countries), religion governs most actions even if no rational justification exists.

Still, a God does exist and there is no substitute for faith.

I just always wonder if the Bible (I'm Christian) is the same book today as Jesus intended or if it has been amended throughout the ages to fit the "needs" of those looking to exploit the virtues of God for their personal benefit.

Because you have a problem separating what is physical from what is spiritual. A house or a car is not the same thing at all as God.
Actually, believing that the answer to life, the universe, and everything can be found in a science laboratory requires a suspension of rational thought and critical thinking skills.
God bless you on your journey.....

Because thinking outside of set boundaries is a test. That is why God gave us the intellect and intelligence that you rarely see used. He wants to test how far above ourselves we will go. And since most of us have reached the "there's no God because science exists" point, I'd say that a majority are failing.

Heh, actually, religion is rational. Only those who have rigid mindsets are unable to comprehend this fact.

Let me expand on that.

To say that God plays "silly games" is to say that you do believe he exists. If you do believe he exists and you -are- playing one of his "silly games", would you rather follow along, knowing that you would win in the end, or rebel and burn in Hell for eternity? That's why we believers of God use rationality. It's not only a matter of thinking He's right or wrong. It's also about saving yourself by thinking -rationally-

Edit: I love how atheists use the "because they can't face reality" excuse. Actually, it's atheists who can't face the reality. No, not the reality of this life, believe me. But the reality of a greater and probably worse one. They are so conceited as to think that when they die, they'll be eaten by maggots and rot away, and that all of their memories, actions, and emotions will fade into the wind. You don't have to believe me. But the day you are inhaling your last breath and going through the agony of death, you'll wish that you had "faced reality".

In order for a religion to be successful, meaning that it gives its controllers a lot of power and wealth, it has to be attractive and accessible to the masses. The masses, over the millenia, have been notoriously stupid. Therefore rationality was never a selling feature of religion.

The reason religion is in a downward spiral now is that people are more educated and they have less need to explain the world through silly myths and fairy tales.

I'm not sure what you are classifying as 'major religions', but I know that witchcraft (especially the Cabot Tradition of Scientific Witchcraft) is ALL about scientific evidence supporting the religion and critical thinking. Although, I might add, there's nothing wrong with a little faith, especially the kind that you develop from personal experience, study, and contemplation. (As opposed tothe kind that derives from blind faith.)
