If you haven't read the books by Carlos Castaneda on Toltec-Nagualism, (The Teachings of Don Juan, etc.) you need to. This will give you a better depth of understanding to what shutting down internal dialog will do for you.

It is a long process, but the rewards are great, so I encourage you to apply the effort. I found the best time to do this when I first began my training was when I was driving. At first, you may only go 15 - 30 seconds at a time, but don't give up. Keep trying, and like anything, you'll improve with practice. It is also good to exercise this when watching people do activities, like kids playing or at a sporting event. Just empty your mind and absorb what you are seeing. You can still "think", but think with blocks of "meaning", not words. Words are what you need to eliminate.

If you need more specifics, feel free to contact me.

Good Luck!!!

What kind of internal dialog? Internal dialog can be good and it can be bad. I have internal dialog on and off all day long, some of it consists of....
1. shoot, it's time to get up...
2. I think I'll go to Starbucks this morning before work, I deserve it.
3. Yea, I got a good parking place.....

do you get the idea,,,,

Bad dialog...would be paranoid, destructive, with the intention of harming yourself or harming others. If you have this kind of self thought then you would have to seek professional help
