Yes, I was wondering too! I asked many dog owners and they all agree, their dogs are freaking out with the vacuum!
My dog is also afraid of the broom and the mop...!

Most dogs and cats, along with other domesticated animals do not like vacuum cleaners. First the noise; second, the force of the suction and volume of air movement scares them. Yet, you can take a dog for a ride in a car and it will want to stick it's head out the window no matter what speed you are driving. Your pet sounds perfectly normal, don't worry.

I have 1 whose like that and has been since we got him at 12 weeks.I've never chased him with the sweeper but assumed by his actions that the breeder did cos it was cute.
He'd bite holes in the bag while it was running! All I have to do is get close to the sweeper and he'd freak out.
We got him another pup to keep him company when he was about 2.We bought the pup at 8 wks.of age.And until he was a year old he'd stand back wagging his tail looking from me to the big dog trying hard to stay out of the way while he figured out what was going on.
At 1 1/2yrs.he decided it was a game and he was big enough to join in altho he'd stand back and bark ferociously while the other dog killed my sweeper.he had no idea why he was barking but guess he was tired of being left out.
He's 2 now and just within these last few months he's taken to biting and clawing the sweeper with the other one.
Since they enjoy it so and I now have a bagless I let them bark and bite at it a couple of times before I tell them to go be somewhere. Then they go lay down.
I think they think it's their toy that they can be rough with.
Show your dog it's yours.Run him into another room when you get it out and turn it on.everytime he steps in the room you're vaccuuming walk over to the dog leaving the sweeper running and force him back to where he was.Always put yourself between the dog and the sweeper.
That's what I do with mine after I've allowed them to get that thing as soon as it comes alive for a couple of minutes. They really don't seem to mind being put out of the room. There's no whining and barking and I think they now understand that it's mine and I shared but now it's my turn to play with it.

I would say that quite a few dogs are afraid of the vacuum. I believe it is the noise more than anything else. My dog is not afraid but seems "annoyed" at it, lol. She just glares and makes a Harrumph sound and moves to another location whenever the vacuum gets too close to her.

i've got had comparable subject. go away the vacuum switched off. Coax her with treats to attitude it - this could make an effort. finally she'll sniff and could start to stroll around it. compliment and tell her smart lady. save it interior the comparable place for days if at accessible until she will walk previous without growing to be terrified. attempt switching it on for a pair of seconds until she's have been given used to the sound. go away it on for longer each and each time if she's pleased with this or you may could desire to circulate decrease back some steps. as quickly as she's have been given used to the sound start to circulate it slowly and advance the time daily. it could take hours, days or perhaps weeks based on the canines's point of rigidity so wait and spot and don;t rush it.

It depends on the dog. I had a dog that would let me run the vacuum hose over her back to remove the loose hair while my other dog run and hide under the table .... LOL.
