I have a sweet road bike, with awesome clipless pedals, great computer, high quality light, tires so thin and frictionless that you just cruise up hills and blow everyone away and when I get home I can carry it up the stairs with a pinky.
This is great and all when I'm working on speed or long distances in nice dry weather. I have come to the conclusion I need a bike to bum around on. One I can ride on the road with, yet cross a grass yard and ride over gravel/dirt paths with. One I can ride in the pouring rain, jump some puddles, and throw in the front yard and not have a heart attack if it got stolen. One to take down the street for a quick stop at the grocery store or ride with less experienced friends with. Not necessarily a mountain bike per se, but a hybrid type. I'm too fanatical to get a huffy...but have too expensive a bike to want a another real expensive one just to bum around on. What do you suggest?
