Well, I would suggest that you two should go together and check out different tattoo shops. See if the place is clean, how good the tattoo artists work is, how long they have been doing it for, look at the pics of their clientele. And when she is 18 then by that time if she still wants it then she can go and do it. Tattoos are permanent and it shouldn't be taken lightly. I have 4 tattoos and love them all. I have no regrets getting them only because they all have a meaning behind each one. Ask your daughter why she wants a tattoo? If her answer is "oh i think it's cute", or if she just wants one because she thinks its in fashion, then she isn't ready for one. If you guys live in the los angeles area, I can refer you to a great tattoo shop and one of the best tattoo artists. Good luck and happy ink work. =)

Well, I wouldn't let her get the tattoo just yet... I'd say wait til she's 18 just on principle... But the piercing why not they heal up if she doesn't want them later anyway. If you do decide to let her get a tat I would say have her pick something small and get it somewhere she can cover easily. The first ones hurt the most and she'll need to be able to hide it if she ever wants a respectable job.

Make her wait. I think if she wants to do adult things then she should wait until she is an adult. My 19 y/o son wanted a tattoo and said NO, not as long as you live with me and I pay bills while you go to college and work. My HOUSE my rules. In the meantime try to encourage her to pick out something small and put it in a place that nobody can see. She may want to get a job in corporate America one day. I never hired somebody who had a big ugly tattoo showing. It just wasn't right looking for our work place.

My 17 yr old daughter is doing the same thing as me. I told her she can either wait or get a small tattoo( she wants angel wings on her shoulder blades) Yikes. She doesn't handle pain very well so I am hoping after the small one she won't want anymore. But who knows these kids drive me crazy!!!!

My daughter got her first tattoo at 16 and hid it from me for a year. She is 26 and has four now. Both my kids have pierced lips, tongues, belly buttons. They pretty much gave that up, the piercings, that is. You have to let your kids be themselves and find themselves. You can only guide them so far, then you have to let them go.

If you do not approve of it tell her no. But seeing as how you already allowed the tounge piercing, a tatoo is nothing. I wanted tatoos and such before I turned 18 and my parents were completely against it, so I just waited until my 18th birthday and went out and got one.

A tatoo is better than a pierced tongue..!
She respected you when she was 15 and did as you told..so I guess a small tattoo wont hurt.

Make her wait! I allowed my daughter to get her nose pierced at 15 only because I know that its removable with minimal scarring. Until she's 18, you're in charge! Don't allow anything that she may regret later in life. When she's a legal adult, it becomes her mistake, until then, its yours.
