Any colors that are not natural fade quickly. I've noticed purples, blues, pinks, and reds fade quickly. It will be a lot of maintenance

I think it depends on your hair. My hair was blond, pink and purple before and the pink and purple barely faded after 3 months. Generally, the colors do fade and gradually wash out, but how long that takes is variable. Bottles say 3-6 weeks just so no one gets pissed about color washing out quickly. If you want a picture, I have one, but hate posting images/links here.

Any red based hair color will fade faster than most others. (red/blue=purple) How fast it fades on your hair will depend on your hairs texture and condition. If your hair is dry, damaged, or previously chemically treated, your hair will more readily absorb the color and as a result, the color will last longer than a person who has "virgin" hair. The color of your hair and whether or not it has natural red tones will also effect your result. Last, for longer lasting color choose a permanent color over a temporary color.

Purple fades quiet fast, but blue fades the fastest.
It's simply because they are the two most difficult colours to find extractions from in nature.
Atleast thats how my hairstylist explained it to me and my friend when we we're teenagers wanting to put color in.

red shampoo is for blonde hair. red is contained in the pink family individuals. The molecules for reds is more desirable than all the different dye hues. hence it has a more durable time staying contained in the hair shaft. likely the most acceptable way, is to seal the hair with a sparkling glaze.
