fight against the legilisation of gay marriage even though in the Bible it says that you should not judge others and Jesus says that christians should love everyone? Giving those people their rights would mean love and not judging. everything else would be against the teachings of jesus even though homosexuality is shown as an abomination the bible

Great point, you should always judge people on their actions not what they say they are. People will use " morals " to perpetuate their own prejudice beliefs.

Christians believe that if a country becomes "ungodly" that it will no longer receive G-d's blessing.

They make references to Sodom and Gamora (sp?) and the flood without considering the fact that in both occurrences G-d made sure to protect anybody that was righteous from harm. So the idea that G-d's blessing can be withdrawn from the U.S. if enough people are immoral or the nation's laws are against G-d's comandments doesn't even stand to their own reasoning.

Social conservatives are the ones fighting gay marriage because they believe it will destroy marriage as we know it. It is my opinion that gay marriage could actually strengthen the institution by treating it like what it really is: a public contract of commitment. It has nothing to do with religion because marriage is regulated by the government in the U.S., not religion, and the law still wouldn't be able to force a religion to sanction a gay marriage so religion really doesn't even have a horse in this race.

Social conservatives just need to realize it will actually be more beneficial to their movement to promote marriage even amongst like-genders. If the family unit is so important to America, then why stop gay people from participating in it and strengthening it?

Sounds like you are making the same judgment. You just called homosexuality an abomination.

I know you didn't say it, the Bible says it. Christians believe what the Bible says is true so when the subject is brought up we call it an abomination. And for that reason we don't give it any respect. If we support this evil on equal grounds with heterosexual marriage we become the abomination... Jim

"Giving those people their rights would mean love and not judging. everything else would be against the teachings of Jesus even though homosexuality is shown as an abomination the Bible "

It seems you imply there are contradictions in the Bible.

Those who believe It is infallible would say that any apparent contradictions exist in our interpretation (or mis-interpretation) of the Bible and not in the original text.

Also, read where the Bible says that we should and shall judge. And are you sure that Jesus said that Christians should love EVERYONE? Also, with what sort of love? (No doubt with a "Godly" love, agape.)

It is about the propagation of christianity. Homosexuals are unable to have children who can then be turned into christians. I personally don't care what other people do with thier bodies if they are happy in there lives. Also the Bible was written by Man and then translated (Old Testemant from Hebrew, New Testament from Greek) and altered to conform with the views of not only a certain time period but of the ruling class ie: Temporal law - before the seperation of Church and State was even an Idea.

You love the sinner, but hate the sin. Just like God does. There is a different between judging a person as a whole and judging whether or not an action or behavior is wrong. We all sin, that doesn't make us bad people. There is such a thing as righteous judgement
1 Thessalonians 5:
21Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22Avoid every kind of evil.

Homosexuality is evil in God's eyes - see Romans 1. I don't look down on the person, just the sin they are commiting

We are also told in the Bible that it is just as wrong to condone, accept, or support a sin than it is to commit it yourself.

Very valid question. I agree that the Bible and Christianity (rightly) teaches that homosexuality is an abomination. And I personally find it physically disgusting in the extreme. However, I cannot justify forcing others to live by my values and according to my beliefs. That is not Christianity and it's not freedom of religion. It's just plain old oppression.

Here is a Christian that does not get involved with the politics of the world. I do not vote either way on the legislation that you speak of.

My allegiance goes to the government that God will soon set up on earth as it is already in heaven. At that time, he, through his son will do the judging, not me.

You already stated that the Bible shows that it is an abomination and hated by God, so I do not need to add anything to that, since you have seen that yourself.

You admit that the Bible teaches that homosexuality is an abomination to God. So, if a Christian wants to be pleasing to God, should we support a lifestyle that God says is wrong? Should we simply allow our culture to promote such a lifestyle without saying a word?

Suppose we applied this line of thinking in other areas. For example, the bible says stealing is wrong. Suppose a man steals a lawnmower from a rich man’s house and gets caught. Should we just let the thief go free because he desired to have a better lawnmower and the rich man has plenty of money and is not really hurt by the loss of the mower?

Christians are called by the word of God to do good and to resist evil. It is our desire to encourage others to follow God, not to make it easier for them to follow their sinful desires. How can we stand by the scriptures, which say homosexual behavior is wrong (Romans 1), but then say we are going to allow the laws of our land to make it easy and acceptable for you to live that lifestyle? Why would we want to make it easier for you to be condemned in God’s sight?

How can I say "I love you" if I just accept any evil in your life as normal, knowing that eternal life is in jeopardy? How can I not say something against such a lifestyle? I want you to go to heaven!

As for judging, you have already said this lifestyle is against teaching in the Bible. I don’t have to make that judgment; the scriptures have already settled it.

The chapter that says, “Judge not…” teaches that we are not to judge by our own set of standards, our own feelings, or our own desires. It teaches that we can remove the speck from our brother’s eye, but first we should get the plank out of our own eye.

The same chapter says you shall know the good from the evil by an examination of their fruits. We may not have a right to judge based on our own standards but we are called to be fruit inspectors (based on a comparison to God’s word). We should look to God’s word as the standard for right and wrong.

Jesus said, “Judge righteous judgment.” Righteous judgment uses God’s word as the standard. God’s word has spoken on this issue.

Because fundamentalists (they believe that every word written in the old testament is THE LAW).

The truth is that when Jesus came and died for our sins, the only way to be saved and go to heaven was through him (or more directly his act of sacrifice on our behalf) instead of the old testament's laws, rites and customs.

So, now Christians are saved by his grace. No one is perfect enough to pass the old testament laws and they became moot due to Jesus.

The ones that argue all day have never studied the scriptures. They are the ones filled with hate. There is no place for that kind of hate in my christiantity.

God is Love...people should act like it!

I do not support any thing that is sin!
We are not animals,we have rules and guidlines to protect us not to chain us.And yes we should love one another but that doesnt mean to agree with doing sinful stuff.Come on,would you teach your child to steal or rob or molest and do drugs?NO, i bet you would set up rules and consiquences for their misbehavior for there safty and betterment. If you say you would let them then i hope you never bcome a parent!
Think before you ask such rediculess Q on here. Its just a stupid inmature ploy against chrstians and God.
Youd still love your child even if they did rape or do drugs or have inapropriet sexual activities.but you would not support them in those behaviors.Oh you gonna give me ---we all have rights bull to.We all have rights -----in guide lines-yes.Get over your selves!
Give it up.
