I would get them something that they would not buy by themselves, when you first get married you just buy the basics and then start little by little buying the rest, I remember we bought just the esentials for the kitchen but it was thanks to our wedding presents that we got that beautiful and sophisticaded wine opener set, or the gorgeous set for different wines, or that super nice top of the line coffe maker that makes capuccino, espresso and tea, so we are very grateful for all this gifts that we could have not afford when we just first started but we got thru friends and family, so, shop around for something like that, it should not be more than 150, Good Luck.

Something that last forever would be a nice heavy guage stainless steel dutch oven, and if there is any money left over, get a 2 quart pot or skillet. These items can be used throughout their married life and always be a reminder to you. And, the good thing is, they will never break.

the last wedding gift i gave was an antique, amish wedding tray (80+ yrs?). antiques are always received well.
another good one is a subscription to "home & garden" or some such other home decorating magazine; especially if they're moving into a new place together.

Check out their gift registery first. See what they want that fits your budget. If they don't have one. Then maybe a nice set of linens or a gift cert so they can fill in the blanks for themselves.

Get them something that they can keep forever. Crap on a wedding registry, they'll get rid of someday. I got my friend a keepsake afghan that pictured a couple's first dance and it had their names and wedding date embroidered on it. That's something they can keep forever if they want to. How long are people going to keep a toaster? But, it also depends on what they already have. My friend and her (now) husband already had everything they needed.
