Weeks later she told my hubby- she regreted helping us out by buying it. So we're going to give it back to her, for her to use as store credit. Any advice?

"Weeks later she told my hubby..." that she bought the ring?????

How did your fiance not know that his mother bought your ring????? That makes no sense at all.

OR... are you saying that weeks later she told your hubby that she regretted loaning him the money???

IF that's the case, what's so bad about your fiance's mom helping him out? If he didn't have the money to buy the ring he should not have bought it. Or he should have bought a less expensive ring. But if he went to her for a loan then what is so bad about that?

Or did your mother in law actually buy the ring and give it to your fiance? If that's the case, then your fiance is the one that ACCEPTED the ring and he should be feeling bad about it.

Stop for a second breathe deep and think how your man must be feeling.

He asks a loan to his family to buy you a ring which I'm sure must have been a hard thing to do.

And then her mom informs that they regret it.

There is too little you say as to be able to give better advice other than support the one you love the rest is not so important.

In some cultures the parents do buy the ring however in this case that is not important. However, your fiance's mother is evil for doing this to you both. I am deeply sorry that you and your wonderful fiance have to go through such hell with her. It was a very mean thing she did.

tell her to f*ck off!!!! what a b*tch why the hell would she do that you dont buy someone a ring and then make them give it back EVER. especially an angagement ring and what the hell kind of guy lets his MOM buy his engagement ring for him? and what mother would do it to begin with? i think you should dump them both. get yourself a man with some cash. or just ditch his mom... she doesnt seem like she is going to be a great mother in law

No, you've got it wrong. She is not the "bad guy" here, your boyfriend is. You're blaming the wrong person. He could have saved to have bought you something, whatever it was like. Don't put your resentment where it doesn't belong; you just don't want to believe he's the one in the wrong!

You should be just as angry with your hubby as your MIL. He should have bought a ring he could afford to buy by himself. Tell him you want a ring for your anniversary.

LOL
thats terrible of her!
what a mean woman!!! Give her back the ring..... you and your man can go to vegas or have a less expensive wedding..... and DONT INVITE HER. I mean, you really dont want that ring now that she has created this drama. let your man buy you a simpler, less expensive ring that shows his love for you.

He is the loser if he cannot afford to buy it as an adult how do expect to be married and support eachother. She is not wrong she bought it.
