The majority are Christians. And they don't believe any other "God" exists but their own. So the majority is not going to say anything when a Christian insults another persons belief. All it does do, is show how hypocritical those people are when they complain about someone insulting Jesus and then they turn around and say something equally insulting about another.

Personally, I couldn't care less what other people have to say about any Gods. They're Gods... they should be able to handle that one on their own.

That depends on the person seeing or hearing the insult. Try an insult about the prophet Muhammed. Remember the cartoon drawing of Muhammed somewhere in Europe. Many Muslims were greatly insulted by this. Another example is the author, Salmon Rushdie, who wrote the book, "The Satanic Versus." Just because he wrote a few passages about Muhammed, that were really no big deal for most people, the Islamic fundamentalists wanted his head.
As for insults against Christ, no doubt there are people who say whatever they want. Freedom of expression you know. There will be people who will take this personal, and thus get angry. After what Christ endured before he died on the cross, I'm sure he sees verbal insults as a slight annoyance, but will forgive when the antagonizer changes his/her ways. Who are we to judge anyways? We're responsible for ourselves in the end.

both religions have done things that are discussing to the eyes of the world. islam with it's terrorists threatening the whole world and also with their barbaric traditions where there's no equality between men, women and children. but also christianism with the priests molesting children in the house of God. how much dirtier could both religions be? i am a fervent believer of God but i opt not to practice any specific religion because they have all been sickened by the doings of the human being. so i think you are askin this question because u are christian and u believe that islam is insulting Jesus. but at the same time someone who believes in islam will also say that you christians are insulting their prophet Mohamad so do you really think the question you're askin is a fair one?

Actually that isn't true. Earlier this year, reporters were fired, papers were boycotted and the entire world was pretty much in an uproar over pictures that that some people thought portrayed islam in a bad light. I saw the ones that actually made it to the paper, and they weren't particularly insulting unless you were looking for a reason to get upset. The truth is, every religion wants to be the only one, and they all get offended when someone says something bad about them.

Lots of assumptions & generalities that may not be accurate. Jesus is used in jokes and disparaging remarks all the time, and no one puts a death warrant on the person saying them, although some folks may be vocal about their disagreement about what was done. Additionally, most pervasive media and open societies are Christian based, so you hear that perspective more. I don't think disparaging remarks about anyones choice of religion is appropriate, so I don't agree with your generalization that "it's OK" - but I DO believe in free speech and people should not be persecuted if they don't believe what you do and talk about it (see "Chef" from South Park for other references).

I'm a Christian, and I think it's wrong for us to say bad things about Allah, or anything else insulting to anyone. It goes against my faith to insult people. Jesus taught that we should love everyone.

NO ONE should be in here slandering others, or their dieties. [or lack of dieties]

I have a dear friend who is a Kuwaiti, and l have learned a lot from her about Allah. A lot of Christians would say I'm nuts, but I don't see why the God of the Bible couldn't also be Allah. He is all things to all people. We shared about our faiths all the time, and the more we shared, the more we found out we were similar. [she is a regular person, a wife, and a mom, not a terrorist]

You are safe with me - I personally say bad things about Islam and Christianity all the time. I show no favoritism when I call out the hypocrisy, intolerance, and obvious man-mad nature of organized religion. They are two sides of the same imaginary coin.....

Does the equal amount of dislike for Islam and Christianity make you feel better?

We are not allowed to say bad things about anyone....and for muslims believe in jesus(in a diffrent way than christians) so we cant say anything bad about him ...or any of prophets and in islam its said not to face insults by insults.....if one insults you ...you dont insult him you can make him understand diffrences between people and they should respect it .....(i think no one should curse or say bad things about anyone so what if it was about God and prophets????)

We live in a world filled with people who live by different faiths and philosophies. What one person believes is almost certain to contradict what another believes, so we all need to be more tolerant, more aware, and less sensitive. Everyone should feel free to criticize their own or other faiths, but if one wants his criticism to be taken seriously, it should be accompanied by well-defined, rational arguments. Petty insults benefit no one.
